I used to have a set of bias ply on my truck that were 9.5x16. Tall and narrow. I had no need for a spacer. BUT, way too soft. Everytime I went off road I'd get a hole in one. I just came across these Michelin XZL's. They measure 36 1/2" tall. Tread only has 4 steel plys while the sidewall only has 1. Not sure I want to carry too much of a load with them but at least it's another option.

The Load Rating would be the Key, not the # of Plys. 1 ply side walls are news to me. But then again if they are round, have air and roll that's about all I know or care about tires

No, I think they'll be fine for ya!

They are load range D, and are rated at 3750 lbs per tire in a single application, prolly at least 3500 lbs in a dually application.

So, 7500 lb front, 14000 rear....I think you're good...=) Bring on the weight!

If you do get them, let me know what you think of them, because I'll get the same ones for my dually.

just to kinda piggyback on what was being said, you can't look at the ply rating on newer tires the same way you would with older bias ply's...

todays technology has changed the strength of tires drastically compared to what they used to be...

I finally got to read a bit more on their website and saw the weight ratings. I honestly figured they wouldn't be able to hold too much. I really thought that sidewall ply rating would come into play somewhere. See, you can learn something new everyday!

I don't have these yet, but they are a possibility after my mud terrains wear out... as long as the price is right.
