I am currently doing research on getting a lift for my 2000 F-150 4WD. Right now I am looking at a 6" suspension lift with a 3" body lift. I would like to have at least 8 - 9" of total lift. My question is a 2 part question.

1) Can aftermarket bumpers be used if a truck has a body lift? (bumpers like the ones Road Armor produces)

2) And does anyone make a 8" suspension for my truck? This way I wouldn't Have to worry about if the bumpers will work or not.

Thanks for the help.

wolfman,

fabtech
superlift
bds

are your 6" kits. i'd do the bds but they are more expensive. most run the fabtech which is a great kit and probably most popular.

get a performance accessories body lift and it comes complete with everything you need plus bumper relocating brackets.

the fabtech and pa lifts will get you 9" and enable you to run 38" tires with a little crank on the front torsion bars.

there are not 8" kits for our trucks, but there is a 10" - full throttle.

I noticed a truck with a 3" body lift and no suspension lift this weekend, and and he had a recieving hitch (like we all do). But this one was well visable under the frame with 3 inch drop spacers between the body and hitch mounts. This is something similar to what I am trying to avoid, if at all possible. If I can get away with a suspesion lift only, but still gain my 8 - 10" lift this would be great.

i just took the hitch off. only use it maybe once a year anyway. there is a company in southern ca that makes hitches for body lifted trucks, but i lost the website after calling and finding out they would not ship due to the weight.

Ok fellas after months of research, and whatnot. I finally have my 2000 F-150 lifted. I went with a 6" Fabtech suspension lift, 3" body lift from performance accesories, 38X15.5X18 TRXUS STS tires, 18X10 Eagle Alloy 64 series wheels, and 4.56 gears front and rear.

looks real nice. did you prop up the rear w/taller block or add-a-leaf? couldn't tell but it looked a little tight in the rear. also, take a look at your emergency brake cable to see if it is rubbing the indside of your tire. the 15.5" wide tires make it a tight fit.

again, looks great!
