| Yup, I replaced mine in my F-150 with a Nascar Windshield but it didn't have the Antenna in the window. Everything looked so much clearer.

| I have a feeling mine is going to have an unfortunaite accident with a 9/16" wrench this spring. Opps, it slipped. Mine has a stone chip and a shingle flew off a neighbours roof and put some scratches on it a few years ago. | |

| I should let you all know this is a special insurance policy.
Its for custom or antique cars. Its based on an agreed value.
My truck was agreed that it was worth 130,000 dollars. Therefore if I total it or it gets stolen the insurance company gives me 130,000 dollars.
Here are the catches. First it cannot be driven to work or for errands. It has to be in a locked garage. Well these two things are not a problem for me as one I dont work and two I use my 86 F150 to run errands. You also have to have another vehicle which proves you dont have to drive your show truck. Here is what your allowed.
1. You can drive it for pleasure anywhere or anytime you want.
2. You can drive it to be worked on like today to get the windshield fixed or to have any work done to it.
3. You can drive it to shows or events where its on display.
Some policies have certain milage requirements. Like 1000 miles a year or 3000 miles a year. The higher the mileage the higher the policy costs.
I have an unlimited mileage policy as I drive across country all the time to go to shows.
My policy is 1,300 dollars a year. If you get a ticket it does not go up. And as I said my policy has 0 deductable.
As I said we are going with another company so my agent said that I can get an appraisal for 150,000 Dollars and my policy will actually be lower than it is now. There seems to be a major discount on cars over 150K.
So tomorrow Im calling an appraiser that my agent sent me and Ill get Elvira Apraised at 150K. So if any one of you wants to steal the bitch Ill get 150. Just dont let it come back within 30 days.

| awesome man! glad the insurance company took care of you!
like you were pointing out though man, everyone bitches at how the insurance companies rape you, well not many people stop to think about ALL the reasons insurance is so high...it's not just because people wreck...You got all these companies and vendors who insurance coverage and automatically everything goes from normal customer pricing to MSRP + profit!
really burns my ass as well...That kind of thing should be reportable to the BBB!

| Thats cool that you got everything replaced.
One of my insurance companies years ago had a zero deductible on glass as part of their standard coverage. Can't remember who it was, maybe Allstate?
Of course, when I worked at Ford DGP we also had a pretty decent windshield replacement program. Free for any Ford vehicle :)

| Lynn, glad they took care of it for you. Good info on the special Insurance policy...I have always wondered how they work.
My truck does not hold a candle to yours, but I have been wondering about more insurance for my ride, something to cover all my mods in case of a wreck or being stolen. I need to call my Insurance company and see what they say.

| Gator Crew, I know allstate has a policy you can get to cover more but with the work you have in your truck you could qualify easy for Custom Car insurance. Problem is you cant drive it to work and you have to have another vehicle in your name and an insurance policy on it showing you have a car to drive to work.
