i have an 03 f-350 dually, i wanted bigger tires and found that the rims were really confining me to a small pool of tires.

i looked into the super single, but that was only if you went to the 22.5 convertion = big $$$

and all the rims i looked at were all 6" wide (the restrictve factor). even an inch (7") would make a great difference in the tires avalible to me.

i know i can fit larger tires on the wheel but they really are not amde to fit that rim = tire will wear poorly and fast.

any suggestion? know of any other whells out?

This is Her V10's truck. She has been a bad girl and didn't list the tire and wheel size on her gallery, but perhaps she'll see this thread and chime in. I've seen some with the non-22.5s and larger tires, but I didn't look that closely.

i have talked to her.

she has 35's on those rims, and i love the look of her truck.

i have talked to a bunch of tire dealers and manufacturs...they all tell me that i can fit bigger tires on the 16"x6" rims, but they are not designed to fit on them and they will wear poorly and quickly.

if the rims were and 16"by 7" or wider you could put pretty much any tire you want and fit correctly. i have not had any luck locating a rim for a dually that is wider than 6". and the 22.5's are very cool but holly sh-t, have you priced them.....about $4000.00and up.

Throw on a set of dually spacers, and you should be able to run 12.5" wide tires. For those you'll need a 2" wide wheel spacer. I have a set if you're interested. 0 miles on them.

yo denny, the spacers are not the issue, its the tires. the tire selection, size and style, are slim....if you want them to fit correctly. the dealers/manufactures tell me that i can put many tires on the 16"x6" rim but i will have very poor wear and fit (example: toyo m/t's, that tire is not made to fit my rim size, but i can fit it on my rims, but the tire tread will be convex instead of flat= poor ride, loud, and wear well before thier time)- hard to explain quickly in writing.

there is no 33's that will fit a 16x6 rim correctly. the best i could find is just shy of 32" the toyo a/t 235/85/16.

down the road i may convert to SRW.

denny, i noticed in your truck specs you have a dually rear converted to SRW...that's no big deal to change, right?

Here's my buddy's truck with 305's on them:

He's just running a spacer, and tows a 16k tow hauler with it...

A lot of people are running that combo....it can't be that bad for wear and ride, right?

There's nothing to it. I just bolted up my tires to the D80, and it fit perfectly.

You'll find that a lot when you talk to dealers and manufacturers about that sorta stuff. Anything that isn't stock must be evil because you *might* break something. Take that from a former dealership employee. Yes, there were some stuff that broke a truck on a regular basis (chipping and straight piping a 6.0 diesel Ford comes to mind), but overall, these trucks are pretty stout. As far as running gear on an F-350 dually, there isn't a weak point on it, so you should be fine.

And really, did the thing ride like a Cadillac before?

Poor Dizzy. It really does suck that we have so many limitations if we decide to keep the dual wheels. I have had 315/75/16's on my truck for years and never really had any issues with bad wear. I get on average of 30-40k on my Mud Terrains with rotations every other oil change. Am I going to tell you that it is perfectly okay for you to put a 12.5" tire on a 6" rim? Nope. I can just say that I haven't had any problems. I have gone back and fourth about removing the spacer up front so I can put on a normal rim and then going with one wide rim in the rear too. I'm happy with the way it is, but I feel like a change is overdue. Good Luck!!!!

lighnin, i have looked into that (super single in ther rear). i hit a dead end. the only opition was to go to 22.5's, the whole set-up (adaptors to 10 bolt, rims and tires) was like $5,000.00---ouch.

i'm doing some stuff to my engine and trans now, after i recover from that, maybe the next modification might have to be changing the DRW to SRW...i with you her V10.

i do like the look of a dually on steriods

DrSpeed, very nice truck. I have been looking for some info on spacers all week. I just traded in my 99 f250 srw for a 2006 f350 dually. It has the factory alloys 17x6.5 running 245's. I want only to put a set of 285's on but I'm pretty sure the rears will rub each other. What is the brand your running and where would I get some? Are yours just the flat disk or the kind I read about where the spacer bolts on to the rear and the outside tire bolts on to the spacer?
One more question would be what size do you think I need for what I want to do. Hope you don't mind all the question.

Ken - I think you have an 8x200 mm bolt pattern. You can find some of those on ebay. Mine are the flat disk or the kind you read about where the spacer bolts on to the rear and the outside tire bolts on to the spacer.

for 285's, I'd go with at least a 1.5" spacer...

kennethsst, the 2006 f-350's come on 17x6.5's? i was looking for after market rims and couldn't find any dually rims wider than 6". are the rims the ones with about 5-6 oval holes?

Sorry, it took so long to get back. Yes my rims are the factory alloys with the 5 ovals (17x6.5). Just got my spacers in yesterday and put 295's nitto terra graplers on.

I have a 2006 king ranch f350 drw 4x4. I want to run a taller tire (maybe a 35") but dont want to go much wider at all. It also needs to be an "e" rated tire. I am leary about lifting it becouse I will be pulling a fifth wheel trailer all over the country. The added ground clearence will help on some of the lesser traveled roads that I'll take but will the added height of a 4" lift leave me hurting for clearence with my trailer? Any suggestions would help. By the way I was thinking of a tire like bfg at,mt, orgoodyear wrangler mt.

shiner,

a levelling kit will just about get you where you need to be, w/o raising the height of your bed...which will still keep the same clearance between the bed rails and the 5er.

try Toyo M55's...they got the load rating, high traction, great wear, and kick ass in the snow.

I want to revive this thread and see if i can get some info as well.

I have an 01 F350 Dually.
I want to put 35 mud terrains on it and im ready to order. I just want to double check what you all think i need to make it work.
Will a leveling kit up front be enough? have a recommendation? What spacers do i need for the back (size and company) and what exact tire in the 35 do i want to order in the mud terrains?

Im ready to buy this stuff, just need a little reassurance and a couple details.

Thanks all. you seem very knowledgable, especially HERV10. Her truck is basically the look im going for.
