The guy I supervise at work bought this jeep for a little more then what I think its worth. We had to trim the front bumper to ease the rubbing problem with the 33's. It has a 3" sky jacker. I think he has two options, smaller tires or a six inch and keep the 33s. He really wants to keep the 33s so I think its a six inch, you listening Jesse!!!!!!! Here are the pics.

Is it me or is this wheel pulled forward

rear of tire

front of tire

Trimmed

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Yeah - those rims have waaaaay too much offset for one thing. For another - if you're touching while the truck's sitting still - imagine how much it's gonna hit when the springs are compressed!

Listen to your buddy Jesse! Don't be a plick (a nod to our Asian friend)

Oh I know. I advised him to go easy while driving. I am asking Jesse for advise on this. I forgot about looking at the backspacing but your right. But keeping the size he has now is going to require at least a 4" but something bigger would facilitate the 33s better.

get new tires ..those things are damn near 1/4" tread left...that would solve your problem of rubbing

There's a 7" kit for ya...with some more digging, I'm sure you could find a 6" kit too.

http://www.jackit.com/manufacturer/rockkrawler/jeep_zj.htm#7sdla

The problems with a kit that tall is that you tend to get kind of a death wobble with the front end, in addition to the vibration issues with the front driveshaft. Hopefully, that ZJ does not have the Quadratrac full time 4WD....a selectable one works best.

With a 4.5" kit and the proper backspacing on the wheels, you should easily be able to clear 33's. Those wheels definately are spaced too far out (too much positive offset). Tuck them in a bit, and they'll look like this:

Steelies are cheap, and I think he should sell those wheels, and get another set of steelies...

Denny I was looking at that kit you pictured but they use the stock arms and he has a set of skyjacer on them. I will have to look at the jackit kit.
