Going to take the motorhome out for an extended stretch, and would like to hear suggestions. Probably June for about 3 weeks.

Only thing I know so far is that want us to see Yellowstone (never been), Zion National Park (been, loved it), and perhaps Oregon (been, love it) for a few days.

Thinking we'll start out in San Bernadino... head 15 up into Utah, and into Yellowstone... Then over to Oregon for a few days along the coast. Never travelled these corridors before.

Side trips? Must sees?

Mount St. Helen's is a must see and it's not that far into Washington. But then - why not continue north into the Olympic Peninsula along the Olympic mountains, the rain forest and back south along the coast?

There's also Seattle, etc., etc., etc...

Thank you Tom, and Washington is lovely, no doubt.

Thing is... Our last extended trip out was up the coast, into Oregon, Washington, and Canada. Stayed at a particularly beautiful spot just west of Port Angeles, right on the beach (right next to a cemetary, sure was quiet!). We're pretty jazzed about seeing areas that we haven't seen as yet. I'm sure there's plenty of Washington left to see, but in a few years I'll be retired and there will be time.

Well, we leave tomorrow. Motorhome's stocked and the Ranger is ready to be towed.

Couple of days on the road, heading towards our starting point at Monument valley...

....from there on to the north rim of the Grand canyon...

...Traveling north into Utah with stops in Zion National park, and the Fish lake basin...

...Further north into Utah for the 4th of July (near Provo) before heading into the Grand Teton/Yellowstone/Jackson Hole area...

...from there, traveling highway 84 with overnight stops along the way heading into Oregon where we'll be staying with friends in Klamath Falls.

...Last leg of the trip spent at California's own Lake Shasta.

We'll be exercising our cameras and legs, posting pics in late July. Wow, a month on the road...

Sounds like one hell of a trip. Have fun!

I hope you are bringing a couple of suitcases full of money for the fuel. What do you expect to get for mileage on this trip, about 4-6 mpg?

...If we're lucky!

Nah, normally we get about 9mpg. I expect I'll lose "some" pulling the ranger, but I have to factor in that we won't be spending a dime on hotel rooms!

When you're in K Falls the only thing there to do is go to the Cowgirls. It's a strip club next to Dick's Meats.

Nice COW. I would have thought a rig that size would have a diesel.

Thanks Mark! Diesel would have been nice, but at about $60,000 more, kind of out of our range.

Washed up, gassed up, oiled up, hooked up and ready to roll!

Mike-- if you're open for suggestions on a slight alteration, I have a GREAT scenic loop off of 84. If you are heading west on 84, head up through Sun Valley, camp overnight at Redfish Lake in the Sawtooths. Then continue on the loop to the north and west, then south, and you'll ultimately end up in Boise, and back on 84.

Update from the road: We're in Williams, AZ gateway to the southern rim of the Grand Canyon. Pulling up stakes this morning, and heading into Navajo country (Monument Valley). The first couple of days were spent traveleing, first to Bakersfield then here to Williams. Visited the Grand Canyon yesterday, and took near about 200 photos. We were fortunate to take advantage of a program the Parks service runs, allowing disabled folks (wife) to drive their vehicles where only shuttle buses are allowed to run. This was a huge help to Lesley, and enabled us to see just about every vantage point the south rim has to offer (drove past lots of envious tourists).

Crappy wireless here at the campsite, so just a couple of teaser pics to share for now.
