| | I dont know Id put Southern California up against you. We have pot holes and otherwise completely damaged roads that you have to slow down for. In Napa I even bent my rim only going 40 miles an hour. | |

| | I have a similar problem here in Arizona. Cept its due to traffic. They run a bus system throughout the city. Not to mention travelling at 15 - 25 mph on 45 mph streets. one problem is that most of the time they stop in the lane of traffic completely. blocking and congesting traffic. Currently they are spending our money on another method, light rail. Geez! Its just gonna slow down traffic more. I was like, why dont they spend the money more wiseley and make those indents for the buses to stop to pick up passengers without blocking the flow of traffic. Now thats not gonna happen and they are making a light rail system right down the middle of the street. Its just gonna make it much more worse traffic than it is. Nice common sense huh? | |

| Light rail, Lee my boy, is intended to make traffic congestion better by taking cars off the streets. We've been wrestling with that issue in Seattle for years. All we want to do is put a friggin' train between the northbound and southbound lanes of I-5. Sounds easy, right? But NOBODY wants to pay for it.
Hell, I'd take a train to work if I could. Of course, my new job is driving, so I'm screwed either way.

| ok here's whats up with the rest stops and highways, i work for cal trans so i have first hand info.
the govoneduchbag and his people want to us subcontractors and get rid of cal trans. to do this they pay lower wages than most large municipalities then hire subs to cover the work load we can't because all the workers leave for better paying jobs. well as you can see the subs aren't doing a very good job because they overbid don't get the work done and still get paid. the head of caltrans tried to give the workers a raise from his budget and was told that if he did he would lose it. most caltrans workers do not make enough to support their families. when you here of a worker making tons of income or retirement it is not one of the people that acculally maintain the highway. when i drove up to sacrament there were already a few reststops with wireless internet.and if we could get people to stop treating the restrooms like crap they might be a little cleaner.
there were a cou[ple of bills passed for improvement to the highway so hopefully some new pro jects will begin but its up to the officials to decied what gets done. it can take several years to get projects approved so what gets done might not help much they are always behind with that.
oh the next time you near cones pleas slow down we lose several people a year.
you may see some cal trans people not doing much but some are on break some are jaded. the state senate gave themselves a 18-22% rase to account for the five years that they went without a raise.we got 3.5% for the same amount of time. most of them make over a 100'000 a year most cal trans maint employees make between 25 and 38 a year we are on the freeways trying to make it safer for you. and what are they doing?
sorry about the rant! just get a little pissed when i think about it.
