I just stumbled across this site. Maybe someone could help and old guy get educated on alarms. I just bought a new dodge quad cab. I already have scratches on the side from someones cat jumping up and climbing in. Is there an alarm that will protect the perimiter before the cat actually climbs up the side with a loud noise to deter them? If so suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for any help in advance

I know VIPER car alarms offer a sensor that detecs movement around the vehical and a voice would come on and ask the object to back away from the vehical.

OR

Just stay up one night and watch out for the cat and just SHOOT the bastard. A 22 with CB shot will do the trick. CB shells are quiter than a BB gun. So there is know worries about the people around you saying anything. GOOD HUNTING.

I'd go with the perimeter alarm. We had a trade-in at work that ordered you away from the vehicle if you got too close. I wonder how well it would work with an animal as small as a cat, though.

Or, you could always park one of these right next to it...

Thanks for your responses. The problem is on my job. The business next door has the cats and they come over and climb in the back of the trucks. I bought a live trap today and plan to catch as many as I can and carry to the humane society. Those that object, I will ask for their claims agent on their homeowners and business insurance coverage. The cover would be a good idea, but would not be practical at work. I think water spider had the best idea, but can't take a gun to work. And Mort's idea is best for the cats owners because they have a I could care less attitude. My plumber has a loud horn under his truck. When he get in to leave he turns it on and any cats under his vehicle take out like they are on the salt flats. Does anyone know if the perimiter alarm and be programed with more than a chirp and for a short period of time.

It's been a while since I had one of the perimeter alarms, but I wouldn't expect that to properly detect an average cat.

The live trap sounds like the best way to go overall.
