| firezapper, on the wire that you used to jumper from the red/yellow wire to the white/black wire, you can install a simple SPST switch (any switch rated for 1 amp or more) in that wire. That will disable the fog lights except as they would be for normal stock use (ie, turn off with the headlights in high.
If you want to be really fancy, you can use a SPDT switch (has two ON positions). Then you can wire the red/yellow wire running from the headlight switch to the center post, the other half of the red/yellow wire to one of the outside posts and then the last post being the jumper wire leading over to the white/black wire. This will allow the fogs to be completely disabled, operate like the factory had them, and as you want (ie, don't turn off unless the fog switch is taken to off).
If you need more help, just hollar. I do a lot of wiring stuff on my truck and for other people. It is what I do for a living, just on a slightly bigger scale, nuclear submarines for the nuclear reactor.

| Only problem is I have to remove the fuxe for the factory fogs. It will blow when I turn on the fogs with the jumper installed.
I know I can install a switch inline of the jumper, to switch between factory and modded.
Then using a fuse tap, a inline fuse, and a switch. I can turn off the factory fog fuse by going from 1 pole on the fuse panel, thru the inline fuse, into the aftermarket switch, then back to the other pole.
What I'm looking to do is that in 1 switch.
What I envision. Position 1..... Factory fuse disabled and jumper hot.
Position 2..... Factory fuse hot and jumper disabled.
Hope that makes what I'm thinking about easier to understand.
And THANKS Thermo. I was hoping for a reply from you. |
