Was looking at the instructions for installing my headers and they said I need to raise the engine up off the mounts some to get the manifolds off and the headers in....anyone here ever try this upgrade on their own? I don't really want to wrence anything I get avoid....and I'm also one of those who are afraid to mess with the later engine models. Oh, this is in a '97 F150 4x4.

Check out the latest parts and accessories from Truck Hownd

Ive never put headers on one but I'm betting it they say you need to raise the motor you will have to. You may have to take your fan sroud of also to let the fan raise high enough.

If they're telling you'll need to - count on needing to.

Rather than taking the fan shroud off (that also means removing the fan), just loosen the shroud so that it can move upward with the engine.

You might also want to remove the fender liners and front wheels so you can reach through there and work on the manifolds and headers.

You really don't have to but it makes it a litter easier. If you deside to raise the motor will only have to raise it about half inch to 1 inch.
