Now, I have been insanely jealous of Alpine since they came out with their interface that controls the iPod through the head unit. Having a 2500 dollar radio, I was upset that mine lacked the capability.

Well, A new crutchfield catalog came today and I breezed through it and came across a Kenwood iPod interface!

It was 89.00 but I went to ebay and found it for 55 bucks...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5800330872

While my head unit plays MP3 dvd's, I would still like to use my iPod as much as possible. It keeps me from wasting DVD's everytime I rip new music.

Just figured I would let you all know!

Here's the one for my head unit

http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/leading_technology/leading_tech_kca-420i.htm

now I just need an iPod.

I'm waiting for the day when I can just plug in a freaking memory card. I mean, that's all my head unit is missing - it can already play mp3's...

I spend about an hour and a half in the morning and a couple hours in the afternoon on a bus - I love my iPod. I carry around about 3000 songs on my 20gb model. I just set it to 'shuffle' and let 'er go. It's gonna be a long time before I go through the 15,000 songs I have!

I have the 4 gig mini, its good enough for me.

I won't be able to fit all of my music on a 20 gig hard drive, let alone an iPod.

I have about 4 or 5 dvd's full of mp3's in the truck, but those are only the ones I ripped so far.

They're perfect for flights Buck. I've got mine going before I even get on the bus and it keeps me entertained for the long ride home. If you're a music fan at all they're more than worth the price!

First thing I did after buying mine was to get one of the silicon sleeves to put it in, then bought a pair of Sony earbuds (they fit the ear better than the ones that come with the iPod). Now I'm good to go!

Tek.... I have NO idea what kind of hardward was used, but my stereo guy had my iPod wired into my Kenwood so that I didn't even need access to the iPod. I could control all the iPod functions through my Kenwood deck. I'll ask him what his trick was.

Greg,

That is what I posted bud

I just don;t actively look for what I shouldn't be spending my money on.

This unit allows the ipod to be controlled through the headunit.

OK-- gotcha. For some reason I assumed that although you were hardwired into the headunit, you still used the iPod controls. Take it easy on me.... its a Friday and I'm slow :)
