General Motors has issued a recall for 857,735 pickup truck and sport utility vehicles due to a possible short circuit with the heated wiper washer fluid system, causing the control circuit to over heat. The vehicles affected are: 2008 Buick Enclave, 2006 to 2008 Buick Lucerne, 2006 to 2008 Cadillac DTS, 2007 to 2008 Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV and Cadillac Escalade EXT. 2007 to 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, and Chevrolet Tahoe. 2007 to 2008 GMC Acadia, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, 2006 to 2008 Hummer H2, and 2007 to 2008 Saturn Outlook.
After placing Hummer under review last month, according to Yahoo Business General Motors is now reviewing the status of their other brands as well, in effort to save money and cut back over head costs in an ailing United States market. The brands potentially facing the chopping block are Buick, Hummer, Saab and Saturn, as well as additional blue and white-collar job cuts within the next couple of weeks when GM's board of directors meets in August. No official comment has been made yet from the automaker.
General Motors today announced an online vehicle discount program for active and reserve military members that can save military families thousands of dollars when purchasing a new car or truck from Chevrolet, Saturn, Pontiac, Buick, Saab, Cadillac, GMC or HUMMER. “The GM Military Discount Program” is an online web site that enables active and reserve members of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard to get a new vehicle discount.
General Motors announced today that its U.S. marketing and field operations will be more strongly aligned into four retail channels: Chevrolet; Premium (Cadillac, Hummer, Saab); Buick-Pontiac-GMC; and Saturn. Each channel will be focused on continuing to deliver world-class products for their customer and build value for GM and their respective dealers.
