AMP Research was kind enough to invite Truckblog out to their 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Irvine, California, to show us a behind the scenes look of their products, as well as install a set of Power Steps on Project Truckblog. Look for an install article coming soon!.
In the video, Engineering Manager, Anthony Smith, explains how the famous Power Step was developed, and highlights its unique features.
StreetGlow developed a LED light bar for consumers that offers supreme styling and safety for the rear of your vehicle. Featuring a slim line of L.E.Ds (a.k.a. "line of fire" lights) that provides an OEM appearance, the StreetGlow truck light installs within minutes, and offers a trailer hitch attachment for power (it can also be hard wired). It also has a multi-function capability for running light control, brake light, and turn signals. We opted for the 60-inch version of these LED truck lights on Project Truckblog and here's how easy it is to install (even a caveman could do it!)
When the re-designed 2004 Ford F-150 hit dealer lots over 4 years ago, it came with a new 3 valve 5.4-liter V8 engine that produced a decent power band, but really needed to be woken up overall. Engineers at Edge Products in Ogden, Utah helped solve this issue, with the release of the Evolution Programmer. We've been anxious to get our hands on one of Edge's new programmers for Project Truckblog, and wanted to be able to test out their programming unit.
When it comes time to cover your bed, you have several options which include a hard fiberglass tonneau cover, a soft tonneau cover, and a retractable cover. Which cover you choose is most likely based on how you use your truck. For Project Truckblog, we wanted the ability to secure the contents of the bed while at the same time having the freedom of an open bed truck for hauling. We installed the RETRAX retractable bed cover from Applied Products, Inc. This article is a step-by-step on how to do it.
If you spend a lot of time in the bed of your pickup truck, you know first-hand how banged up your knees can get. Unlike typical bed liners that are slick (plastic bed liners) or hard (spray-on bed liners) and cause things to fly around when you're turning a corner, the BedRug provides a soft surface that's not only easy on your knees but also keeps your stuff from banging around. We installed the latest BedRug from Wise Industries on our Project Truckblog, a 2005 Ford F-150 SuperCrew.
When we were at SEMA, we spoke with Ethan Wendle of DiamondBack truck covers, about their new products for next year. The DiamondBack HD cover gives you the ability to load an ATV on top utilizing their ramp assembly. Our own truck, "Project BankShot", featured this tonneau cover at this years show with a Yamaha Raptor 650 quad on top. Check out our video below.
With the almighty SEMA show just days away, we at Truckblog have been frantically getting ready for the big show and have been preparing our own truck, Project Bank Shot. Owned by Brian Olhausen, one of Truckblog's photographers, Project Bank Shot is a 2006 Ford F-250 SuperDuty truck that has been built to conquer anything. You can find our project truck at the SEMA show outside, in front of the convention center for maximum exposure. Along with Project Bank Shot, we have collaborated 19 vehicles that will be featured at the 2007 SEMA show. Check them out inside.
Make sure you stay "logged to the blog" all week long, for full event coverage! Photos, Video and more!
It's a shame when one of us here at Truckblog finds a stock pickup truck out in the wild. Let's face it, stock sucks. What's worse is when a stock truck is one of our own!
Introducing Project Truckblog, a late model Ford F-150 SuperCrew, purchased last Friday by Truckblog Webmaster, Chris. His 3rd Ford truck is ready to build-up through Truckblog. He's currently hunting for everything from suspension, wheels and tires, to exterior and interior mods. If you're a manufacturer and looking for editorial exposure, please inquire! You can help turn this stock truck into something wicked!
Please visit project.truckblog.com for more information and a complete list of upcoming mods.
