| | | Land Rover Adds New Turbocharged V6 Diesel Engine
Land Rover announced they will add a new engine to their LR3 and Discovery SUV lineup, borrowing Jaguar's 3.0 liter twin turbocharged V6 diesel engine. Delivering 272 horsepower and 420 foot pounds of torque, the diesel engine offers a 12 percent increase in gas mileage which is a desperate need for the sport utility vehicle. The new motor will be replacing Land Rover's current 2.7 liter TDV6, good for 190 horsepower and 324 foot pounds of torque. Not too shabby, increase in power and fuel efficiency at the same time!

| | 20,000 Ranger Rover SUVs Recalled For Driveshaft Issues
Land Rover is recalling 19,168 2003 to 2005 Rang Rover SUVs. The front differential coupling sleeve and propeller shaft may be misaligned, resulting in spline wear over a period of time. As the wear between the propeller shaft and the differential spline coupling progresses, noise and vibration are expected. Continued vehicle operation can eventually result in the splines shearing and loss of drive can occur, resulting in an increased risk of a crash. Owners are encouraged to contact their local dealers as soon as possible and contact Land Rover at 1-313-594-7688 or visit Safercar.gov.

| Land Rover To Release LR4 Model, Really A LR3 With An Extra Bench Seat
Land Rover are apparently having problems naming their new 7 seat luxury sport utility vehicle that is due to release in 2010. Currently labeled the LR3 and offered to seat 5, the third row seat being added is such a large upgrade in Land Rover's eyes that they are contemplating on naming the new sport utility vehicle as the LR4. Don't you think it would be easier to just give it an "XL", "L" to the model name, or simply classify it by the amount of seating such as a LR5 for a 5 seater and LR7 for a 7 seater? Oh well, Land Rovers are over priced anyway. Reported by Autoweek.
