It is that time again! STILLEN is excited to invite all Nissan and Infiniti owners to attend our annual Customer Appreciation day. We have been holding these events for over 10 years and each year it gets bigger and bigger. Last year we had nearly 800 customized cars and trucks in attendance. In the past we have shut down 250 yards of Airway Avenue in front of our headquarters. This year, we have gone to the city of Costa Mesa and extended that an additional 100 yards, over 3 football fields long, plus our parking lot full of Nissan and Infiniti Trucks, SUVs and cars. Make sure you get here early, we are opening the outside lot first and once space is gone, you'll have to search for parking outside of the event.
In an article by US News, with gas prices climbing past the $4.00 dollar per gallon mark nation wide, SUV trade in values and sales have fallen over 14 percent in March alone, compared to the same time one year ago. The SUV used car sales have been so bad, that some dealers have been forced to sell them overseas, facing expensive transportation costs and little profit. Al Johnson of AutoNation's Maroone Nissan in Pembroke, Florida said "the dealership had been exporting about one car a month" in recent years, but this year they average roughly 10".

Last Saturday we covered the STILLEN Titan Day event in Costa Mesa, California. Outside of finally getting to meet Steve Millen and see some old friends, the highlight of the day was watching Four Wheeler Magazine's editor (Robin Stover) crush an Infiniti sedan (which was scheduled to be crushed anyway) with his off-road Nissan Titan truck. The story and photos were posted last Saturday and now we have a video which shows the complete crushing and some other vehicles from the event.
Jason and I took off first thing this morning to Costa Mesa, CA, home of STILLEN HQ, to cover their second Titan Day event this year. I created two photo albums, one for photos of the event itself and another that contains photos of the Nissan Titan vs. Infiniti car. The event went off without a hitch, except STILLEN's dyno was having a bad day so they had to come up with an alternate plan to please the rowdy crowd. The solution? Get Robin Stover (editor of Four Wheeler Magazine) to take his 2004 Titan monster off-road custom truck and absolutely demolish an Infiniti car (which was scheduled to be crushed by law). The video is also available. Thanks Steve and John for lunch!
As we previously announced, STILLEN is having a huge get-together tomorrow at their headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA. The event starts at 9am and is an open house for Nissan and Infiniti trucks and SUVs. They'll have dyno runs, product seminars, giveaways, a free lunch, and more. We'll be there to cover it for Truckblog, and we've got all the details, so click on ahead.
Forbes reports, "According to the newest data from Consumer Reports, Nissan Motor's full-size Infiniti QX sport utility vehicle has the worst ratings possible for the reliability of its electrical system, brakes, body integrity, power equipment and body hardware. It is 300% less reliable than the average car." Also making the list is a four-wheel-drive Ford Ranger that has a two-star rollover-resistance rating. A model with this rating has a 30% chance of rolling over in a single-vehicle crash.
Bill Griffith, a writer for The Boston Globe, recently reviewed the lane departure warning system, an option offered on the 2005 Infiniti FX crossover SUVs and the 2006 Infiniti M premium luxury sedan.
Studies have shown that 55 percent of fatal accidents are caused by lane departure, and this camera-based system developed by Iteris aims to help solve the problem. The camera, mounted behind the rear-view mirror, scans the road for lane markers and sounds a warning beep if the vehicle leaves the lane without signaling.
