Owners are urged to contact their local Toyota dealer immediately or visit www.Toyota.com.
The NHTSA has issued a recall for 2004 to 2009 Chevrolet Colorado, 2004 to 2009 GMC Canyon, and a group of Isuzu I-280 through I-370 pickup trucks made between 2006 and 2008. The recall is due to a faulty brake light switch that may not work and could cause the brake lamps to stay on continuously, possibly failing to alert other drivers and increasing the risk of crash. Owners are urged to contact their local dealer as soon as possible or by visiting www.gmownercenter.com.
Nissan issued a recall of over 362,000 2003 to 2007 Murano SUV's due to a condition where the intake air duct may separate from the resonator due to engine movement. Owners are encouraged to contact Nissan immediately at 1-800-647-7261.

During those model years, nearly 1.5 million SUV's were produced which could possibly result in a massive recall for Ford. No issue has been recalled yet but the NHTSA are taking a "preliminary evaluation... to assess the scope, frequency and potential safety consequences of the alleged defect and any relationship of the alleged gearshift lever mechanism failures to the alleged vehicle rollaway incidents". A Ford spokes person also commented, "We do not see a safety risk and we will be fully cooperating with the government with the investigation".
Chrysler has issued another recall for their products this week, this time effecting their Jeep brand. Over 42,000 2002 to 2003 Jeep Liberty models have been recalled due to an issue with the front suspension upper control arm ball joint that may experience corrosion and separate while driving, leading to an increased risk of a crash occurring.

Owners are encouraged to contact their local dealer as soon as possible or Chrysler directly at 888-327-4236.

The lack of brake assistance may increase the stopping distance of the vehicle, potentially leading to an increased risk of crash. Owners are encouraged to contact their local dealer as soon as possible via Mitsubishi at 800-222-0037.
Toyota is in trouble over a 1996 recall involving a series of pickup trucks with defective relay rods. The rod connects the steering wheel to the front spindle and can possibly fracture, resulting in an increased risk of crash or death. Ford's recall of the cruise control switch suffers another setback, as news spreads that the replacement parts will not be available until February 2006. Since many owners of the 1994-2002 trucks and SUVs won't have a fix for a few more months, we highly recommend those owners disconnect their speed control system until they are able to get the part replaced.

The year of recalls and problems with Ford trucks and SUVs doesn't appear to be getting any better, unfortunately. According to the NHTSA, a stuck throttle problem on the 2002 Ford Explorer and the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer SUVs is causing an investigation of over 690,000 vehicles. There's no cause for alarm yet, as the investigation is in its preliminary stages, prompted by 15 complaints and one crash.

It is with much sadness that we have to report another fire due to the $20 switch which shuts off the cruise control on many Ford vehicles, but if we don't bring attention to this problem, we fear there will be many more fires. This story is yet another case where a family parked their 2001 Ford Expedition in their garage, only to have it burn down their entire home. Thanks to their pet Chihuahua, their lives were saved.

After an investigation into the failure of some of Dodge's popular 4x4 trucks and SUV's front ball joints and subsequent recall recommendation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, auto maker DiamlerChrysler has confirmed that they will be issuing a recall for the vehicles affected. This recall covers close to 600,000 Dodge Durango and Dakota trucks manufactured between the years of 200 and 2003.
Chrysler spokesman Max Gates stressed that the vehicles have not yet been recalled, but that a recall is expected. Gates further stated that Chrysler recognizes there is a problem with the upper ball joints, but "We do not think it rises to the level of a safety defect."
Gates further stressed that because of the nature of this problem, failure would most likely happen during low-speed turning maneuvers, which is when the most stress would be applied to the vehicle.
