For the past two new years eve events, professional drifting champion Rhys Millen's has attempted and failed miserably to perform a back flip in a pre-runner race truck. One reader over at Jalopnik came across some hick out in the country side who performed a back flip in his own monster truck creation. Check out the video below.
Since the birth of Grave Digger in 1982, Monster Trucks have been very popular across the country. Known for their high powered engines, over sized off-road tires, and a love for crushing and destroying anything in its path, not everything always goes smoothly for these gentle giants. If you have not heard already, monster truck announcer George Eisenhart Jr., 41, was hit by the Samson monster truck during an event last Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. The tragic accident comes as just two weeks ago a six year old spectator was killed during a monster truck show in Tacoma, Washington. An early investigation of the accident shows that safety regulations were being followed and both Eisenhart and the driver of the truck did not see each other.
Gizmodo found this gem on the internet called the "Globecruiser" from Action Mobil, the most bad ass camper existing on this planet today that would could possibly kill Optimus Prime himself. Built off a MAN TGA 6x6 platform and powered by a behemoth 783 cubic inch turbo diesel motor that pumps out 388 kilowatts, the Globecruiser has two fuel tanks which hold up to 219 gallons of fuel, 154 gallons of water capacity, that all weigh in the battle cruiser at 21 tons.
The 27th annual 4 Wheel Jamboree Nationals are being held this weekend, September 19 through 21st at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. More than 4,000 off-road and sport utility vehicles are expected to show in an event the whole family can enjoy. Bob Dullam of the SuperHeroHype forum, is certainly a huge batman freak fan (Hit Me!), going all the way to spend $70 grand on a working replica of Batman's Tumbler attack vehicle "Batmobile" from "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" movies. Welding the whole freakin thing himself, Dullam created the monster off of photos from the intarweb. He's even got his own Batsuit (see inside) and an afterburner!
Measuring in at thirty feet long, ten feet high and weighing as much as a school bus or 13 tons, the "Monster Motorbike from Hell" was designed by stunt driver, Ray Baumann of Perth, Australia. Powered by a Detroit Diesel truck engine, six speed Allison transmission, and a two speed Eaton differential, the monster motor bike also has 10 foot tall tires. The California Truck Jamboree Plus & Moto-Palooza show will be arriving at the end of the month. Combining two shows into one, the one day event will be held on June 29th, 2008 at Hidden Valley Park in Irvine, California. The Truck Jamboree Plus will feature hotrods, custom and classic cars, pickup trucks, heavy duty trucks, motorcycles and more. There will also be "Shocker" the monster truck, live music and more. The show runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and adult spectator tickets are just $15 and children under 12 are FREE with a paid admission. Also, there is free parking. You're going to have to check this one out for yourself. Unfortunately, we missed the second annual Hearse Convention 2008, which was held in Englewood, Colorado this month. The rides that showed up are pretty slick though, featuring machine guns mounted on fenders, lots of skulls all over the place, the famous "CARGOYL" Hearse, and blow up dolls. Yes, blow up dolls. The United States Defense Department has announced that Daimler Trucks of North America, a division of Germany's Daimler AG company, have won a $170 million dollar defense contract with the United States Army. The contract states that Daimler will be supplying 200 dump trucks, and 600 light equipment transportation vehicles for the Army. No further details have been issued at this time. As reported by Yahoo Finance.

I don't know where the guys at Jalopnik find this crap, but it's really amazing. As seen in the photographs, the vehicle is a Holden UTE sport truck, which are sold in Australia. Lifted on huge Mickey Thompson Baja Claws and packed with a 6.0 liter V8 engine, "Da Hulk" as it's called, also has what seems to be hydraulic cross over steering, a full Dana 60 front axle, leaf springs, a Westin Bull Bar, six Lightforce HID off road lights, flared fenders, chrome side steps, and roll bar. Mudding anyone?
This is insane. What do you do with 2 monster trucks, a helicopter, a CORR series race truck, a calculator, and a group of 10 freestyle motorcycle riders? You choreograph them launching off 4 seperate ramps at the same time, of course! This extreme stunt is sure to grant them the most viewed section on YouTube for this week!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw this crazy truck but It's actually a Russian Semi-Truck called the "Dragon Tank Truck", not to be confused with the Transformers movie due to hit theaters July 3rd, 2007. If those words make you crane your neck, looking for a monster truck flying through the air and crushing cars, then you were definitely at the Tacoma Dome for the Monster Jam this past weekend. The trucks were jamming around corners and flying over cars on a pre-determined track layout for the Monster Truck races. And later they had 90 seconds of time for the Monster Truck freestyle, where the trucks had free reign to do make the trucks pirouette through the air with the utmost grace, defying gravity, and even landing on their roofs!

As summer winds down and we head into the off-season, many of us take our show vehicles and strip them back down to create something new and exciting for the next season. Hold off on that for at least another two weeks, though. Some big shows are still going on. Tomorrow is the 7th Annual Cruisin' For A Cure show at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California. Truckblog will be there to cover it all.
Then, next weekend (September 30th) is a new show put on by the guys who run the famous SoCal Truckjam shows. Their latest creation, called California Jamboree After Dark is a full day show in Long Beach that extends into the night for a different type of truck show. They will have the usual events, as well as events catering to the evening, such as a rail drag contest. There will be an unusual kind of fireworks in the small town of Sylva, N.C. this July Fourth, thanks to one Susan Shannon. Shannon will host one of the country’s most unique holiday celebrations – a monster truck race – after winning the Built Ford Tough "Monsters On Mainstreet" promotion presented by Ford Trucks and Monster Jam.
