Just one year after Ford unveiled the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor at the SEMA show, Ford today is announcing the long-anticipated power figures for the all-new 6.2-liter premium V-8 engine now available in this ultimate high-speed off-road performance truck. When this optional powertrain in the Raptor arrives in showrooms in early 2010, the 6.2-liter V-8 will produce 411 hp and 434 ft.-lb. of torque, making Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup available. Customers will now have the choice of two V-8 engines in the Raptor, Ford’s proven 5.4-liter Triton V-8 or the new 6.2-liter V-8, which can be ordered beginning Dec. 1, with an MSRP of $41,995 including destination and delivery.
Chevrolet recently uploaded a promotional video on YouTube to showcase their upcoming graphics packages for the 2010 Camaro and allow fans to vote for the vehicle via their Facebook page. If you look closely in the background and turn on HD mode, you'll notice something in the works of a new pickup truck. When I did this I was able to read the rendered artwork which states "Silverado Baja Offroad Vehicle". It looks as if Chevrolet is trying to contend with Ford's 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor and our guess is that Chevrolet will release a concept vehicle at the 2009 SEMA Show showing off the new offroad truck. Stay tuned.
A company by the name of Sean Hyland Motorsports are tearing the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor apart and making the truck much more badass for customers across the U.S. Hyland is adding a supercharger to the base F-150 5.4 engine which produces over 750 horsepower and 700 foot pounds of torque as well as a 6 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission. Other upgrades include a fuel system, cooling system, exhaust, suspension, wheels, and tires.
The truck will be available for purchase this Fall.
A company by the name of Late Model Restoration are gaining some attention on the web with their less-than-modified 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. The company removed the side graphics off of the truck revealing a much "cleaner" stance for some. Either way, the truck is grabbing some attention across the net as anticipation for the pickup truck finally arrives at dealer lots. What are your thoughts?
Our friend Mike Levine over at PickupTrucks has captured a spy shot of a SuperCrew version of the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck. Ford added a fake camouflaged roof to the bed of the truck but there's no mistaking this Raptor from it's 35 inch BFG tires, unique SVT wheels, flared fenders and custom front end. Check out more spyshots at PUT.
Now here's a truck, not that Honda thing I spoke about yesterday. Ever wonder how the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor got its name? An article from TruckTrend holds the answer. "Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. Ford's SVT-developed, FOX Racing Shox-suspended, ultimate offroad truck owes its name to, of all things, a bean counter". Head on over to their site to read the full article of how the awesome SVT Raptor got it's name.
Preparing to blaze new trails, the all-new 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is ready for the most challenging desert adventures. But this purpose-built, high-speed off-road truck also is engineered to be versatile enough to take on the everyday commute. “With Raptor, we’re taking the established performance of the F-150 to the next level and proving just how much Ford trucks can do,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president for Global Product Development. “The F-150 SVT Raptor doesn’t just appear to be off-road-ready. It is off-road-ready. It was built with the off-road enthusiast in mind and will give consumers an off-road experience no other vehicle can.”
Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and FOX Racing Shox are taking consumers where no other OEM has taken them before: off-road in the desert with the internal triple bypass shocks, exclusively available on the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor – an industry-first on a production truck. With 12.1 inches of usable travel in the rear suspension and 11.2 inches in the front, the softly sprung suspension has enough travel to handle the toughest terrain in the desert. Usable travel is what matters – most trucks have seven to eight inches, but are so stiffly sprung that the actual movement is much less.
Mike Harrison’s enthusiasm for V-8 engines is apparent. Harrison, Ford Motor Company’s premium V-8 systems manager, is particularly excited about the availability of the new 6.2-liter V-8 that will power the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Producing an estimated 400 horsepower and 400 ft.-lb. of torque, Harrison rattles off the new engine’s components and features quickly and easily, pointing them out and explaining them with more than a trace of pride.
Rumor on the net is saying that the United States Border Patrol and Department of HOmeland Security are "seriously considering" purchasing at least 10 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor pickup trucks to help patrol the border. The delivery of Fords for government use would not be the first, with the Ford Bronco being a major player in the 1980's. The sources are also stating that the Border Patrol is asking Ford to equip the interiors with work truck interiors, instead of the premium interiors found in the retail version of the pickup truck. We'll keep you posted.

Ford has received a handful of requests for a SuperCrew version of the SVT F-150 Raptor pickup truck set to go on sale this Fall. Mike Levine of Pickuptrucks spoke with Mark Grueber, For'd Marketing Manager where he found out "We've had requests for a crew cab [Raptor]," said Grueber. "We haven't made any decisions but there's some demand for it. Not everyone is going to use [the Raptor] for aggressive off-roading. It could be something similar to the four-door [Jeep] Wrangler".
Ford has received orders higher than expected for the pickup truck, so a crew cab version is very possible in the future.

The F-150 SVT Raptor R completed the approximately 220-mile loop race in the Nevada desert in 6:08:30.000, finishing 2nd in Class 8000. The F-150 SVT Raptor R is currently in 2nd place in Class 8000 after two races in the 2009 season. As a way of thanking the off-road community for their support of Raptor since its debut, participants and enthusiast spectators were given pricing details of the highly-anticipated 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor during the pre-race driver's meeting on Friday, April 17. The 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor with a 320-horsepower 5.4-liter V-8 engine will have a MSRP of $38,995 (destination & delivery included) when it arrives in dealer showrooms in summer 2009.

Edmunds Inside Line had the chance to play with some of Mopar's custom Jeeps, the Jeep Lower Forty and Jeep Grand Canyon II. Based off of the Jeep Wrangler platform, Chrysler designed the concepts as a way to show off Mopar's custom performance parts and accessories. Chrysler issued statements regarding their custom Jeep, "The Mopar Underground crew added the aggressive wheels and tires to a stock, two-door Wrangler Rubicon without the use of a suspension lift," and "The team's goal was to achieve added ground clearance without altering the vehicle's center of gravity. To accomplish that feat, the team trimmed copious amounts of the body and fenders to provide the needed tire clearance. Once achieved, the team used a saw to chop out 3 inches of height from the windshield frame and increased the rake by 10 degrees."

The dude in this YouTube video managed to get his Jeep stuck in mud so badly that while pulling the truck out, his entire front suspension gets twisted and ripped apart from underneath the Jeep. His buddy then yells out "Damn Dude, Holy Fuck" in reaction to the carnage. Talk about having a bad day.
Earlier this morning we announced Ford's new mini site for the F-150 SVT Raptor. On that mini site, Ford states the new "Boss" 6.2 liter SOHC V8 engine which pumps out 400 horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque, will be available as an option in the winter of 2010. Until then, the Raptor will come standard with Ford's 5.4 liter SOHC V8 engine that produces 320 horsepower and 390 foot pounds of torque. Will it be worth the wait? We hope so.

Hagerty Insurance Agency had the opportunity to ride in Ford's new F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck this past weekend at the Barrett Jackson auction. The YouTube video below demonstrates how the truck handles and performs while going around an enclosed course, as well as handling a jump at 50 miles per hour. There is an annoying sensor alarm that goes off toward the end of the video while they are still driving, I hope that's not a bad thing. Check it out.

Force Dynamics of Trumansburg, New York obtained the task of creating a racing simulator for Ford Motor Company of the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor off-road truck. Set on a 3D-Axis, Force Dynamics developed the simulator to take care of "parasitic forces" which actually deal with drag on your body between your head and chest/back. Force Dynamics President, David Wiernicki, explains this process in the video below. Check it out.
Also, the F-150 SVT Raptor simulator can be found at the major automotive shows including those in Houston, St. Louis, Dallas, Cleveland, Kansas City, Atlanta, Columbus, and Austin from now until April.
Hummer have announced today they will end their sponsorship with Rod Hall Racing who have participated in many off-road races such as the Baja 1,000 and SCORE races. General Motors are still trying to sell the weakened Hummer brand and haven't had much success doing so.

Automotive drifting phenomenon, Rhys Millen, attempted to perform a back flip in a Red Bull Trophy Truck in 2007 which failed miserably and landed him in the hospital with a broken back. To ring in 2009, last Wednesday night (or Thursday morning however you look at it), Rhys attempted another back flip in his truck and failed again, although this time not so badly. Rhys managed to land the truck somewhat straight but the brute force of hitting the ground and the rear end bottoming out flipped the truck onto its side. Check it out below.
Land Rover has today confirmed that it will cancel the Land Rover G4 Challenge program in order to focus more on product launches in 2009. "Given the severity of the global economic downturn and trading conditions, we need to make some tough decisions and that means prioritizing our budgets on new product launches. We are disappointed for the competitors who have shown so much commitment and put tremendous effort into succeeding as representatives of their nation. We have and will continue to take swift and decisive actions for the benefit of the business; unfortunately that means the Land Rover G4 Challenge has to come to an early close," said Phil Popham, Managing Director Land Rover.

After more than twenty years the historical Campagnola is back. Italy's best loved Fiat vehicle was originally produced in different versions from 1951 to 1987. The new Campagnola is part of the Iveco brand and is derived from Massif, the 4x4 off-road vehicle launched last March. Iveco is one of the few global manufacturers to offer a complete range of all-wheel-drive vehicles and with Massif the company has entered a completely new sector of professional transport for the first time offering two light off-road vehicles. Iveco Campagnola extends the range with a model specifically for passenger transport, without sacrificing the authentic off-road features behind the success of its ancestor: separate chassis, all-wheel-drive, high mobility and exceptional off-road capability. In addition to offering the qualities of comfort and driveability demanded by a modern off-road vehicle.

A member at Jalopnik came across this custom off-road'n, mudd bogg'n, dixie blow'n, lifted Jaguar XJS luxury car at a local Wal-Mart in Ft. Pierce, Florida (so cliché). Underneath the carriage of this bogger is a straight axle conversion with gas charged shocks, 40 inch Super Swamper mudd tires, custom front and rear bumper guards, side guards with integrated steps, trailer hitch, and a pink star sticker on the rear window...that's hot.

Motivated by this outstanding series of success, Porsche is now for the first time presenting the new Cayenne S Transsyberia for road and off-road use at the Paris Motor Show (4 – 19 October 2008). Like the extra-robust rally model, the road-going version is also based on the Cayenne S with its 4.8-litre V8 naturally-aspirated power unit featuring highly economical and efficient Direct Fuel Injection. The big difference, however, is that the new Transsyberia comes with the high-performance power unit carried over from the Cayenne GTS, developing 405 bhp (298 kW) at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 500 Newton-metres (369 lb-ft) at 3,500 rpm. In conjunction with the final drive likewise carried over from the GTS but shortened by 15 per cent to 4.1:1, the Cayenne S Transsyberia offers an even higher level of performance. With the six-speed manual gearbox featured as standard, acceleration to 100 km/h comes in just 6.1 seconds, another 0.5 seconds faster than the Cayenne S.

Starring the originals Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, "The Fast and the Furious 4" certainly looks to be as action packed as the original but this time including more trucks into the scene. With the recent release of the Hummer H3T pickup truck yesterday, we now have a further breakdown of the Hummer H3T's pricing and standard equipment options. With a price tag of $31,495 for standard features and $36,760 for the Alpha version, combined with the current lack of demand for sport utility vehicles, I'd bet that Hummer won't be selling many of these vehicles any time soon. None the least, the pricing break down is inside.
