As Chrysler Group LLC prepares to begin operations, the new company formed in alliance with Fiat announced an organizational restructuring to focus on the Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Mopar® brands. The new leaner, flatter structure is intended to restore brand promise and dealer confidence. All appointments are effective immediately. “I personally feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead the new Chrysler and to work with senior management to build this company and our great brands into all we know they can and should be,” said Sergio Marchionne, who today was named Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Group LLC. “That effort starts with leadership.”
Chrysler LLC is bringing to market three new exclusive lifetime service contract upgrades for its Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge certified pre-owned vehicles (CPOV): Lifetime Powertrain Care Coverage, Lifetime Added Care Plus and Lifetime Maximum Care. These new CPOV upgrades apply to most CPO vehicles and provide coverage to the first CPOV owner in exactly the same way as a new car warranty. These lifetime plans build on the industry-leading Lifetime Powertrain Warranty that Chrysler currently offers on its new vehicles.
Since the United States pickup truck market has been in the toilet due to high fuel prices and lack of consumer interest, Hyundai Motor Company has called off their own plans of producing several mid size pickup trucks at their Georgia manufacturing plant. Hyundai have decided to continue producing passenger vehicles instead, steering clear of "turmoil in the truck business in the U.S. Sales of pickups and large sport-utility vehicles". No further details have been released about the pickup truck or Hyundai Motor Company. Reported by Wall Street Journal.
Pickuptruck posted information this morning about Kia Motors Corporation, and their recently announced plans to produce a mid-size unibody pickup truck by 2011. Similar to the Honda Ridgeline, the new Kia truck will utilize a front wheel drive platform, powered by a fuel efficient six cylinder engine.
The KCV4 Mojave concept vehicle is Kia's first attempt at a pickup truck of any kind. Based on a their Sorento SUV, the concept is designed with an extended cab and comes with a 3.8L 24V DOHC V6 capable of 280hp.
