Detroit Free Press reported that Chrysler LLC has recalled nearly 300,000 SUVs due to brake problems while driving up hill. "The recall involves more than 156,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Commander SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years, more than 90,000 2007 Jeep Wrangler SUVs and nearly 50,000 2007 Dodge Nitro SUVs. The automaker had received about 20 complaints of vehicles experiencing a delay in braking when drivers tried to come to a stop after coasting uphill. To fix the problem, the computer connected to the anti-lock brake system will be reprogrammed."

MSNBC reports, "Ford Motor Co. said Tuesday it was recalling more than 500,000 Ford Escape sport utility vehicles after receiving reports of engine fires linked to corrosion on antilock brake connectors. Ford said the recall involved 444,880 Escapes from the 2001-2004 model years in the United States, and about 75,000 Escapes in Canada, Mexico and Europe. The recall does not affect hybrid versions of the SUV, the automaker said."
Ford has built the ultimate pick up truck of the millennium, and has chosen an iconic name that depicts it perfectly - the Super Duty. The Ford F-250 and F-350 caters to all the needs of full-size truck owners. You have those that use it as a work horse, towing a fifth wheel or goose neck trailer with a gross combined vehicle weight (GCWR) of 31,100 pounds; guys lifting it sky high with Bigfoot sized rolling stock; and those with dropped on airbags, laying frame with 26" wheels. Despite these trucks being all across the spectrum, they have one thing in common: they have to STOP! That's where Stainless Steel Brake Corporation's 8 Piston Brake Calipers come in.

If you have a jacked up off-road rig sporting huge wheels and tires or maybe a lowered truck running huge 24 inch rims, you have undoubtedly noticed the decreased performance afforded by your stock brakes. Upgrading the stock brakes to a set of six piston calipers and larger vented discs by Wilwood performance is probably the best thing you could do to optimize your vehicles braking power, but it's not always possible to pry open your wallet as far as would be needed to dish out the dough for those incredible brakes. Other alternatives in the disc brake upgrade arena are Statix, Stainless Steel and Baer. The replacement brake systems are ideal and they look and perfom great but the downside is that a full brake replacement kit can be very costly.
