Washington is a beautiful state but it's also full of a lot of weird and sickening people (like Mort), that would create distasteful products like the following: BrakeNutz. As if the TruckNutz concept wasn't bad enough, some dude had to go out and make a lighted version of the man jewels. There are even 50 different types according to their website including "camo truck nuts and chrome plated truck nuts, glowing truck nuts, pink truck nuts, flourescent orange truck ntus, truck nut keychains, and my personal favorite: lighted truck nuts".

A reader at the popular gadget blog Gizmodo reviewed Chrysler's in car wi-fi internet service by Autonet and concluded that although the system works, it has bugs that need to be sorted out. Those bugs include its EVDO connection which constantly drops back to CDMA connectivity (old school connection), they only offer WEP security encryption which tends to be "not so" secure, and their standard plan only comes with a 1 gigabyte bandwidth cap. In today's day and age, you can suck up 1 gigabyte just by checking out our 2009 Dodge Ram photos.
Success in the work place can sometimes be hard to achieve, especially if you are not a straight shooter with your boss. Bob Slydell of "Office Space" tells us how you can become part of the "upper management" if you are like Peter Gibbons, "I'd like to move us right along to a Peter Gibbons. Now we had a chance to meet this young man, and boy that's just a straight shooter with upper management written all over him". So the question of the morning is, "are you a straight shooter with upper management written all over yourself"?
One thing is for sure, success in the work place can definitely be achieved by checking out our blogs from last week- I guarantee it. Oh by the way, did you get the memo that Truckblog.TV is now called MOTORZ?
Popular gadget blog Engadget were invited by Ford Motor Company to check out the new Microsoft Sync 2.0 system with Sirius Satellite Radio Travel Link. Set to debut this November after SEMA, Sync 2.0 integrates Ford's syncmyride.com portal and provides vehicle owners with the status of their rides.
Dutch mobile DJ Artist Olaf Mooij (try to say that 3 times fast), is re-mixing it up (not the birthday cake kind) to new levels with extreme mobile DJ'ing. His ridiculous car (some would call it art) is inspired by the Catholic Church's Pope mobile. Complete with a PA system, two turntables and gigantor speakers, Olaf's custom talent is available to rent for parties (how bout a Beerblog party?) What do you think?
Chrysler LLC has become the first automaker to offer Wi-Fi internet beginning last week on August 25. Selling the service and unit through their parts division, Mopar, the internet is accessed through a Wi-Fi hot spot which runs off of Chrysler's Uconnect web service that utilizes a EV-DO cellular connection. Essentially you are using a broadband connection, the same as cellular network connections. The actual device was developed by Autonet Mobile, whom supply the unit to Chrysler. Autonet Mobile CEO Sterling Pratz stated...
Microsoft is making it possible for drivers to access the internet while they drive via a vehicle Wi-Fi connection they're calling "Vi-Fi". The system allows users to be constantly connected to an internet access point for a "cheaper price" than existing cellular broadband systems. The key to making the technology work is it's steady system. Current Wi-Fi networks work based off of signal stations and broadcasts in between. If you are in an area where that broadcast is not being sent, you lose your access point.
MOTORZ Episode 8 was just uploaded this morning and is streaming live across the intarweb. In this video, Chris and I cover the installation of an Alpine Electronics IVA-W505 multimedia head unit and its connectivity with other common technologies such as iPods, iPhones and cell phones, Sirius satellite radio, and more. As a side note, this episode also marks our first video since renovating the garage after removing a ton of clutter and repainting the whole "studio". You can view the new episode by clicking here.

I came across a website on the intarweb last night called AudioJunkies.com, where they were invited on a factory tour of the JL Audio Facility in Miramar, Florida. I myself are a fan of JL's product, owning both their subwoofers and amplifiers, and found the pictures from the factory tour to be very cool. A lot of people complain about the expensive pricing of JL Audio product but through the following pictures you can see all of the effort that goes into each speaker. Check them out inside.
Ford is getting serious about satellite radio, hiring a 40 person research team to deal specifically with on board wireless systems and signing on with Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The reason for the investment is that satellite radio "provides a residual income for automakers", especially now since automotive sales are down. Recently, Sirius merged with XM satellite radio and the company also announced interoperable radios within 9 months. Reported by Seeking Alpha.
If all of the computer equipment at your work is malfunctioning and makes you T.O.'d like the guys in the movie "Office Space", maybe it's a good time to leave your cubical for a few and go purchase a "Birthday Cake Remix" ice cream love affair from a local Cold Stone Creamery. Or if you want to take your mind off things check out Truckblog.TV on iTunes. Click it and subscribe, you know you want to.
Orbicast is reporting that Sirius XM Radio Inc will be offering interoperable radios within nine months or early next year. CEO Mel Karmazin told investors "We have an FCC deadline...you should assume that we will be a lot closer, a lot faster in that deadline". Will we be able to see these new radios on store shelves this holiday season? Karmazin said "Most likely not" but we will be able to see them during the first quarter of next year when they make their debut at CES 2009. The "a la carte" radio packages (which are selected radio stations of both XM and Sirius) will be available this Fall for purchase, just not the whole shabang.
Is that no talent ass clown in the cubical next to you listening to the radio loudly while you are trying to collate information, just like Peter Gibbons experienced in "Office Space"? Unfortunately right now, the time is 9:00 AM and he is allowed to listen to the radio from 9 till 11. That gives you a two hour time frame to check out Truckblog.TV and read through the list of blogs below from last week.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. currently offers integrated Bluetooth hands-free wireless systems in 15 models and will make it available on the all-new 2009 Venza when it goes on sale this fall. With more states enacting laws that prohibit driving while talking on handheld cell phones, the Bluetooth hands-free systems connection between certain Toyota models and most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones provide an easy wireless solution. Built into optional Toyota onboard DVD navigation and JBL audio systems, the technology provides users with convenient hands-free phone capabilities.
A company by the name of PosiMotion are releasing their idiot proof parking software called G-Park, which will be released for the Apple iPhone this Friday, July 11. G-Park works in three easy steps: First you park your car, whip out your iPhone and select the "ParkMe!" button. The program then throws a pin down on your coordinates within Google Maps, an application available on the iPhone. The second step is to get lost, somehow. Once you find yourself not being able to find your truck, you select the "Where Did I Park?" button and Google Maps loads once again, placing a new pin on your current coordinates and generating turn by turn directions towards your vehicle. Pretty groovy huh? The alternative to this fascinating technology is simply remembering where the hell you parked in the first place.
If you live in the state of California or Washington, beginning today the law will require drivers to use hands-free devices on cell phones while driving any vehicle. The new law also bans any drivers under the age of 18 years old from using cell phones or other mobile devices while behind the wheel. Many states across the nation are quickly passing laws requiring the hands-free devices to help make the roads safer. There is also a no grace period for drivers caught talking and driving without the hands-free devices. The only clause to the new law is if drivers are making emergency calls to law enforcement, medical, fire department or any emergency services agency. For more information about the law in California, visit dmv.ca.gov and Seattlepi for Washington residents.
