Ford Motor Company announced today it is adding three additional vehicles to its E-85 flexible fuel vehicle (FFV) line-up for the 2009 model year -- Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator full size sports utility vehicles and Ford E-Series full size van and wagon. These latest entrants are yet another example of Ford’s aggressive plan to bring more products that customers want and need to market faster.
Dubbed "Auto Chick Power", three young women took control of designing the Lincoln MKT Concepts interior, which is featured at the Detroit Auto Show this week. The designers were Joann Jung (31), Amy Kim (26) and Jennifer Hewlett (27) and they are calling themselves "Auto Chick Power". "It's overwhelming. It's very personal to me. Ford decided to become to the first automaker to offer High Definition Digital Radio. The dealer-installed option is now available nationwide on nearly all 2008 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and the radio can also be installed on earlier models from 2005, 2006 and 2007. Car & Driver took the new 2007 Lincoln Mark LT for a test drive. "What is this thing? A Lincoln pickup? The Blackwood was the last Lincoln pickup, but don’t feel bad if you don’t remember it, since Lincoln only sold about three. The Mark LT is, presumably, supposed to be more of a gentleman’s F-150, a useful pickup for the polished...."
AutoWeek reports, "The new chrome grille on the 2007 Lincoln Navigator is pingponging in popularity. Lincoln originally planned to put a chrome finish on the entire grille, including a piece at the top of the grille described as a mustache. But then came feedback from dealers that the chrome was over the top. So the Navigator team instead went with a body-colored..."
Ford Motor Company is responding to consumers' desire for increased vehicle safety by adding more standard safety features to its 2007 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury lineups. The company has made side air curtains or its advanced Safety Canopy system with rollover sensor standard equipment on 14 vehicles for the 2007 model year, including the all-new Ford Edge, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
Ford Motor Company will significantly increase the powertrain limited warranties and roadside assistance programs for 2007-model Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles as part of an accelerated product plan that includes more standard safety equipment, new technologically advanced engines and transmissions, wider availability of technologies like all-wheel drive and straightforward pricing that helps improve resale values.
With its dramatically restyled exterior, a first-time extended model option and an interior package billed as the quietest and most comfortable Navigator yet, Lincoln is taking direct aim at Cadillac in the full-size luxury SUV category with the upcoming launch of the 2007 Lincoln Navigator.
"With SUV sales falling faster than expected, Lincoln Mercury will spend $24 million to promote the Mercury Mountaineer and Lincoln Navigator in May and June. Heavy TV advertising will support the push. Lincoln Mercury executives told dealers the Mountaineer campaign will cost $10 million and the Navigator campaign $14 million," AutoWeek reports.
"Ford is recalling 211,432 of its 2006 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks to fix a potentially faulty warning light for anti-lock brakes, U.S. safety regulators said. Separately, the NHTSA said DaimlerChrysler AG was recalling 39,274 2006 model-year Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram and Mitsubishi Raider pickup trucks," MSNBC reports.
Newly redesigned and dripping with luxury, Lincoln introduces their 2007 Navigator. Besides the complete exterior makeover, the Navigator also boasts a new, more comfortable interior, thicker glass, acoustically designed mirrors, and a new model with an additional 14.7 inches of space, allowing for 25 cu. feet of cargo volume. Power is provided by Ford's 5.4L Triton mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission, allowing for faster, smoother gear shifts and two overdrive gears for optimum fuel economy.
This is the year of recalls for the Ford Motor Company, and we hope it ends on December 31st. MSNBC reports on the latest round: "Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 235,000 pickups, vans and sport utility vehicles from the 2006 model year because of potential problems with the windshield wiper motor. The models include the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans, the Escape, Expedition and Explorer SUVs, F-150 and Ranger pickups and Taurus sedan. It also includes the Lincoln Navigator SUV and Lincoln Mark LT pickup and Mercury Mountaineer and Mariner SUV."
Today Ford Motor Company unveiled their next generation 3.5L V-6 engine, targeted to be equipped in one out of every five vehicles Ford produces. This next generation power plant generates a healthy 250hp and offers better performance, fuel economy and emissions.
This New V-6 will debut next year in several vehicles including the Ford Edge and Lincoln Aviator.
The Detroit News reports on Lincolns new future, "With the launch of the Lincoln Zephyr sedan and the unveiling of the new Lincoln Aviator crossover, Ford Motor Co. has begun a reinvention of its luxury marque that is all about capturing the spirit of American achievement and optimism, albeit with an assist from a British designer and Japanese engineering."
Automotive luxury brand Lincoln and Earvin "Magic" Johnson today announced a special auction of a fully customized edition of the all-new 2006 Lincoln Mark LT pickup truck. All proceeds will benefit the Magic Johnson Foundation, which sends more than 200 students to universities and colleges every year.

Just recently, Ford announced that they would be extending the employee pricing promotions to the hundreds of Ford and Lincoln dealerships located in Canada. Similar to the US program, this excludes Ford trucks larger than an F-350 (no SuperCrewzer sales, sorry), Mustangs or the Escape Hybrid.

Ford's Lincoln Brand and R&B supergroup New Edition have announced a unique marketing collaboration tied to the 30-city "2005 New Edition Concert Tour." The two iconic brands, with strong, celebrated pasts are reinvigorating their images among urban consumers with Lincoln's launch of new vehicles and New Edition's recent album "One Love".
Marketing and promotion is key to selling the latest luxury pickup's and SUV's and not to be outdone, Lincoln has announced that they are the next company to jump on the Orange County Chopper bandwagon by sponsoring a nationwide tour of the Mark LT pickup and of course, a matching OCC Chopper (how original!). This luxurious combo will be doing a several month tour, in a custom matching trailer, of over 150 Lincoln dealerships, stopping by for customers to drool over. Paul Teutul Jr. described the Mark LT Chopper as the classiest chopper he had ever designed, (If you don't count the Dixie chopper or the jet bike).

Back in January we announced that Ford had recalled over 800,000 2000 model year Ford F-150s, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators for a speed control switch problem that allowed the world's best selling pickup to catch fire, while parked.

Ford is voluntarily issuing a safety recall to address under hood fires related to the speed control switch in four-to-five year old 2000 model year Ford F-150s, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, as well as 2001 F-Series Supercrew trucks manufactured during the same time period as the other 2000 model year vehicles. Ford has been working closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to investigate this issue.

AutoWeek reports: "Beginning next year, Lincoln will see a steady stream of new products that share platforms with other Ford Motor Co. products.
It will take Lincoln's lineup from four vehicles today to at least eight nameplates by late this decade, company officials say. "What we're most known for is full-sized sedans," said Lincoln Mercury President Darryl Hazel. "I think we need to return to our strength to build upon."
Yet Lincoln's next vehicle is the 2006 Mark LT pickup, a deluxe version of the Ford F-150. It goes on sale in January."
