Automotive rendering specialist, Mark Stehrenberger, posted his version of the next generation 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty on Pickuptrucks.com. The 2011 platform is expecting a complete refresh from it's current 10 year old body styling, adding more truck and more "tonka" like features grabbed from Ford's F-350 Tonka concept back in 2002.
If the speculation behind this rendering is true, we can expect Super Duty owners to be slightly disappointed due to the consistent styling from the F-150 and the lack of a "Super" heavier duty truck. Exterior styling aside, the re-designed truck is expected to receive Ford's now 6.7 liter "Scorpion" V8 diesel motor which will replace the current 6.2 liter.

ROUSH Performance, with support from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), today introduced two new alternative fuel vehicles available through Ford dealers in the United States and Canada. The 2010 ROUSH propane-powered Ford F-250 and 2010 ROUSH propane-powered Ford E-250 both achieve lower carbon and greenhouse gas emissions due to the use of propane as an engine fuel. On average, propane fleet vehicles reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 18 percent; create 20 percent less nitrous oxide; produce up to 60 percent less carbon monoxide; and fewer particulate emissions, compared to conventional gasoline. These vehicles follow the introduction of the ROUSH propane Ford F-150 in 2007.
After years of delivering power to two of Ford Motor Company’s iconic products, the Ford F-150 and Mustang, Romeo Engine Plant has reached a historic milestone – the production of its 10 millionth engine. The 10 millionth engine, a 4.6 liter 3-valve V-8, will be shipped to AutoAlliance International in Flat Rock, Mich., to be installed in a new 2010 Mustang GT. The V-8 engines manufactured at the plant build on two of Ford’s strengths – capability for the Ford F-150, the best-selling truck in America, and performance for Mustang, America’s favorite muscle car. In 2008 alone, the engines produced at the plant generated a combined 90 million horsepower, about 2,750 times the combined horsepower of this year’s starting field for the Daytona 500.
The next generation 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty was spotted last week driving around Dearborn, Michigan dressed in camouflage. Inspirations from the 2006 Ford SuperChief concept can be seen under the new camo, specifically its beefy chrome grille. The new Super Duty is also expected to be released with Ford's new "Scorpion" diesel V8 and the 6.2 liter "Boss" V8 we found in a Harley Davidson F-150 last week.
Editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com today named the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid one of its “2009 Best New Family Vehicles.” “After undergoing a major overhaul for the 2008 model year, the Ford Escape Hybrid is improved again for 2009 with a more powerful and more efficient gas-electric powertrain,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. “Its fuel economy rating of 34 miles per gallon in the city is even better than that of the Toyota Camry Hybrid.”
At the 2009 Chicago Auto Show, you can find the brand new 2010 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson pickup truck we brought you last week sitting on the showroom floor. Underneath this custom F-150 though is Ford's highly anticipated 6.2 liter V8 motor nicknamed "Boss", which is slated for the F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck sometime next year. The new motor produces 400 horsepower and 400 foot pounds of torque, much higher than Ford's conventional 5.4 V8 found underneath many F-150's today. A Ford spokesman commented on the status of the new motor and said "The only engine confirmed for the Harley-Davidson F-150 is the 5.4L V8 it will launch with". I suspect it will hit Harley trucks by the end of the year or sometime next spring.
When they say “Built Ford Tough” about the all-new 2009 F-150 they aren’t just talking about brawny stuff like high strength steel. They’re also talking about cushiony features such as air bags – the kind of air bags other trucks wish they had, namely a “K-Bag”.
The all-new 2009 Ford F-150 – which features exclusive “K-bag” side air bag technology – provides better side-impact crash safety ratings than the Chevrolet Silverado and Dodge Ram, according to a new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Ford has issued a recall of over 11,000 2009 Ranger 4x2 pickup trucks due to an improperly manufactured front wheel spindle that can possibly fracture while driving increasing the risk of a crash or even death. Owners of the brand new pickups are urged to contact their local dealer as soon as possible, where dealers will replace the part free of charge. Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or by visiting www.safecar.gov
The 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson™ F-150 delivers a new standard of “custom cool,” combining the smooth handling and legendary durability of America’s best-selling truck with the authentic styling of Harley-Davidson, the industry leader in motorcycles. This marks the 14th Harley-Davidson edition of an F-Series truck and latest in a line of Ford Harley-Davidson F-Series models dating back to 2000, which aim to appeal to customers who appreciate quality and unique details only this kind of collaboration can bring.
About 800 new workers at Ford Motor Company’s Dearborn Truck Plant are undergoing intensive quality training as they prepare to build Ford’s new F-150, the 2009 North American Truck of the Year. The crew of about 800 employees is slated to begin its full production shift on Feb. 16. “Our unrelenting commitment to quality drives everything Ford does in the manufacturing world and beyond,” said Joe Hinrichs, group vice president, Global Manufacturing and Labor Affairs. “While instability in the external market has had an impact on our manufacturing operations, we are proud of the fact that our quality continues to improve despite changes to production and operating patterns. As we expand our work force at Dearborn Truck, we are ensuring we don’t miss a beat when it comes to quality.”
The 2010 Ford Ranger, America's most fuel-efficient pickup, comes to market this summer by adding unique standard safety technologies, including Ford's AdvanceTrac® with RSC® – the world's most sophisticated electronic stability control system that helps prevent skidding and rollovers – and combination side air bags.
Ford Racing and Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) announced today that the F-150 SVT Raptor R, the same truck that finished third in class at the 41st SCORE Tecate Baja 1000, will run in the 2009 "Best In The Desert" race series. The truck will be driven by veteran Ford truck racers and former "Rough Riders" Rob MacCachren and Steve Olliges. The privately funded team will run all five points races for 2009 in the Raptor R to continue testing the durability of the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor and its production components.
Ford’s F-Series truck and Fusion mid-size sedan paced Ford to a fourth consecutive month of retail market share increases. Ford estimates its share of the January retail market was 12.7 percent, up 0.3 point versus a year ago. This marks the first time since 1995 Ford has achieved a retail market share increase four months in a row. In January, Ford’s all-new F-150 truck picked up more accolades and market share. In January, the F-150 was named North American Truck of the Year and earned a quadruple 5-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Best-in-class capability and safety ratings and unsurpassed fuel economy appear to be driving F-Series appeal among buyers.
The fourth quarter of 2008 was a depressing one for Ford Motor Company, posting a $5.9 billion dollar loss in cash. The new losses come as a blow to the company, who only lost $2.8 billion during the 4th quarter of 2007 a year earlier. The company have managed to pull together $23.5 billion in liquidity as a reserve, but that cash on hand is going fast. Let's all hope they can sell some more trucks this year.
In the following video on YouTube, television personality (and a personal favorite) Mike Rowe places the 2009 Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado and Dodge Ram pickup trucks head to head at Ford Motor Company's Detroit Proving Grounds in Michigan. The test shows the handling and performance of each truck on the river bed course side by side in real time. I've had the opportunity myself to test both a 2009 Ford F-250 Super Duty and 2008 Dodge 2500 HD pickup truck on the same course and I will say that all of these trucks do take a beating on the river bed and each truck test proves itself. Check out the video below.

Much time and effort has gone into this pickup truck and it looks like it has finally pulled off. Congrats dude!

Hammering home their success in offering a propane-powered truck, ROUSH Performance unveiled yesterday at the 2009 International Builders' Show the next product in the lineup - the 2010 ROUSH Liquid Propane Injected F-250. The ROUSH propane-powered F-250 immediately received considerable interest among the attendees who had been looking for a medium-duty truck that could offer both lower operating costs and greenhouse emissions. According to research provided by the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC), propane is the most widely-used alternative fuel today, with more than 10 million vehicles around the world using it as a fuel.
Sales figures from 2008 have come in and hybrid sport utility vehicle purchases have already begun to slow, dropping nearly 10 percent for the year. Toyota ranked number one in hybrid sales for 2008 with 241,000 vehicles sold, Honda as number two with 31,000 vehicles, and Ford in third with 20,000 vehicles sold. Although sales are down, General Motors witnessed a 179 percent growth of their Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade Hybrid SUVs, however no figures were noted by GM.

Sources are also saying the new 5.0 liter V8 will be found in the new 2010 Mustang as well.
Hagerty Insurance Agency had the opportunity to ride in Ford's new F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck this past weekend at the Barrett Jackson auction. The YouTube video below demonstrates how the truck handles and performs while going around an enclosed course, as well as handling a jump at 50 miles per hour. There is an annoying sensor alarm that goes off toward the end of the video while they are still driving, I hope that's not a bad thing. Check it out.
Ford's first production F-150 SVT Raptor was sold for over $143,000 dollars this past weekend at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ford is offering the purchase rights to the first retail version of the 540-horsepower 2010 Ford Shelby GT500, the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor offered to the public as well as the first Ford Racing Mustang Cobra Jet with the hood signed by several Ford drag racing legends, including John Force and Bob Glidden. Force Dynamics of Trumansburg, New York obtained the task of creating a racing simulator for Ford Motor Company of the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor off-road truck. Set on a 3D-Axis, Force Dynamics developed the simulator to take care of "parasitic forces" which actually deal with drag on your body between your head and chest/back. Force Dynamics President, David Wiernicki, explains this process in the video below. Check it out.
Also, the F-150 SVT Raptor simulator can be found at the major automotive shows including those in Houston, St. Louis, Dallas, Cleveland, Kansas City, Atlanta, Columbus, and Austin from now until April.
An automotive enthusiast from Montreal, Quebec took his old 1987 Ford F-150 4x4 and 1991 E250 van, and converted it into the "H150", a hybrid F-150 Hummer H1 off-roading machine. Using only common tools which include a 110 volt Lincoln Welder, two 4.5 inch grinders, home made bender, and air tools, the owner has roughly $15,000 cash into the project. That is minuscule in comparison to the $100,000 dollar plus price tag for a "new" Hummer H1. All the metal work was also done by himself. A project like this is a little too large for the MOTORZ garage but definitely proves itself to be one cool build up. Check out the buildup inside.
The first in a wave of new Ford EcoBoost engines makes its debut in the Lincoln MKS, MKT and Ford Flex later this year as part of Ford Motor Company’s global initiative to provide powertrains that deliver the fuel efficiency and power customers demand. The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine delivers the performance found in a normally aspirated V-8 while maintaining the fuel economy found in a normally aspirated V-6 engine. A look at the highlights of the EcoBoost story: Power and fuel economy: The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Duratec V-6 EcoBoost engine produces 355 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 350 ft.-lb. of torque at 3,500 rpm. A 10-15 percent fuel-economy benefit is expected versus normally aspirated 4.6-liter V-8 engines in the same competitive class.

I just found this awesome priced auction on eBay from automotive aftermarket parts retailer, Stillen. They are selling their 2004 Ford F-150 SEMA truck that was also featured on the cover of Truckin' Magazine. The truck is currently going for $12,100 and has quite a bit of modifications done to it including 22 inch wheels, Air Ride suspension, full audio and video system, and Stillen/Street Scene Equipment exterior upgrades. Sounds like a killer deal if you ask me. The auction ends Tuesday.

Already selling 85 percent of their commercial spots for the 2009 Super Bowl XLIII, NBC Universal are selling 30 second advertising spots this year for a cool 3 million dollars each, up slightly from $2.7 million each in 2008. Of the commercials that are already locked in, very few are automotive related and none are coming from General Motors, Chrysler LLC or Ford Motor Company this year. Luxury automaker, Audi, have purchased one 60 second spot during the first quarter but have not disclosed yet what the content will be. Bridgestone purchased two 30 second spots this year and we at Truckblog are hoping they are not as bad as last years commercials with Richard Simmons. Cars.com have purchased one 60 second spot during the second quarter this year and "are expected to be humorous" (very informative) according to an person familiar with their commercials this year.
