This past Sunday, the Truckblog crew went to Truck Jam Plus, an extension of the Truck Jam series, featuring hot rods, classic cars, late models, bikes and more. The show was a blast and we got some killer coverage of the event. The Shocker monster truck was wreaking havoc again, there was a cool street bike stunt show, live music from Limelife, and a lot of awesome vehicles. Check out the links to pictures and video below.
Brian Olhausen is best known for his last name. Few would walk up to this descendant of the Olhausen Billiards family and ask him about trucks. Yet that is exactly what he loves to talk about most, besides of course, his family's world-renowned pool tables. We caught up with Brian recently in his hometown of Poway, California, to cover his truck for Truckblog.com and have him teach us some trick shots.
For the past 100 years, the assembly line has been the most effective way of producing products and goods throughout our country. US Wheel in Huntington Beach, California has mastered this technique marvelously. Currently producing over 600 forged wheels alone per month (and steadily growing), US Wheels offer 9 different brands ranging from their high-end Bonspeed line of 1 piece & 2 piece designs & USW Forged series created from a solid block of metal, to their commercial truck series steel wheels that you can find everywhere on delivery trucks. They were kind enough to let us take a tour of their large facility and provide excellent coverage of their wheel creation process.
A couple of years ago, Gale Banks Engineering debuted their Project Sidewinder, a 220+ mph Dodge Dakota outfitted with a heavily modified Cummins turbo diesel. This little beauty ran over 220 mph on the Bonneville salt flats and pulled it's own trailer getting there. Banks Engineering, not being able to rest on their laurels, invites you to take an in-depth look at the build up of their latest diesel rocket - The Banks D-Max Type-R.
After a quarter of a million miles and years of hard work, Michael Netherton, owner of Project Responder, decided that it was time to do an extreme makeover on his old 1987 Ford F-250 truck.

Dave Anderson, a Washington State native now relocated to Hebron, Kentucky can't recall the last time he saw as much snow as they got the other day. As much of the nation is cooled by snow from an artic cold front the sheer amount of snow is causing areas that don't normally see as much as 16 inches of snow, to have trouble removing it from the road ways. Traversing the snow has proven to be an issue for some of the residents of Hebron, but not Dave.

A couple months ago we did a feature on the worlds fastest diesel truck, this time we are bringing you the worlds fastest full size truck, Les Shockley's Shockwave. Les Shockly has been in the business of racing cars in 1960 when he was just 16 years old, by age 19 he was racing a fully sponsored super stocker, racing for the Milne Bros.
Les, over a course of 5 years, went on to build his dream. A jet-powered dragster which would ultimately be the beginning of Les Shockley's Shockwave Dragsters. In the mid 70's Les's Shockwave dragsters were already running speeds in excess of 350 mph and making 5-second standing quarter mile times. A feat that had not yet been done until the Shockwaves hit.

If you have a jacked up off-road rig sporting huge wheels and tires or maybe a lowered truck running huge 24 inch rims, you have undoubtedly noticed the decreased performance afforded by your stock brakes. Upgrading the stock brakes to a set of six piston calipers and larger vented discs by Wilwood performance is probably the best thing you could do to optimize your vehicles braking power, but it's not always possible to pry open your wallet as far as would be needed to dish out the dough for those incredible brakes. Other alternatives in the disc brake upgrade arena are Statix, Stainless Steel and Baer. The replacement brake systems are ideal and they look and perfom great but the downside is that a full brake replacement kit can be very costly.

So, you see all these little ricers running the street zipping in and out of traffic. Usually they have their oversized wing on the back and at a bare minimum a set of those LED windshield wiper nozzles and the big "Type R" sticker plastered down the side. These cars are phenomenal because they are cheap to buy and easy to add an additional 150 horse power with some easy bolt on upgrades but face it, even if you add 150 ponies to these engines, your still only sitting at around 265 hp and that's at the flywheel. No for serious power and serious torque you have to have a serious platform to start out with.
