I thought I was just hearing a joke on SNL last night as I grabbed the remote to turn off the television. The news reporter stated that Exxon Mobile posted a $40B profit in 2006, setting a new record for the most profit ever made by a U.S. company in single year. I contemplated the news and drifted off into la-la-land, vowing to myself to confirm the report in the morning. Sure enough, MSNBC (and other news sources) had posted a story yesterday, proving that it wasn't just a bad SNL skit. $39.5 billion profit (yes, profit) in a single year. At least now we know why gas prices have been so high... we've been padding the pockets of Exxon Mobile execs. What a scam. No wonder our nation's economy is in the shitter -- all our money is going to these idiots. Please digg this story.
More and more, individuals interested in custom vehicles seem to be joining the ranks of disappointed fans who claim you no longer see the one off suspensions, body fabrications or mods such as frenched headlights or Cadillac tails. It seems the new "bolt on" generation has a ton of people upset and I don't understand why. While most of the vehicles you do see have very little or no true "custom" modifications, we happened to find a few full on customs at the SEMA show last week in Las Vegas, but we also found a ton of vehicles that had tasteful bolt on mods to satisfy the Motor Head in all of us.

With fuel prices being a record high and being increased 100% in the past year, and an additional 30% just in one day, is their any relief in sight? One Truckblog.com member reported fuel prices being increased from $2.97 to $3.10 a gallon during the short time it took to fill up the tank of his truck.
Outside of Snoop Dogg's own Chrysler 300C, what is the connection? There's a new Chrysler commercial featuring 80-year-old ex-chairman Lee Iacocca and rap megastar Snoop Dogg posing as golf buddies. The punch line is Snoop saying "If the ride is more fly, then you must buy." These are two celebrities that we would not expect to see together anywhere, let alone a Chrysler commercial. If the 300C is the only connection that can be made, it's ironic that the commercial (for Chrysler's employee discount program) does not include the 300.
Mayor Thomas Menino of Boston, who recently called environmental policy a top priority and even appointed a new cabinet to manage the new policies, is under fire by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy for choosing a Ford Explorer as his taxpayer-funded vehicle instead of Ford's Hybrid Escape, which was cited as being too small. With the prices of fuel being $2.17 a gallon, the SUV costs about $60 to top off and averages about 14 miles to the gallon.

Jake and I were tipped off about a truck award that we have never heard before. Chad, our "happy go lucky" mailroom guy, was surfing some interesting sites the other day and stumbled upon something very unusual.

Last night was a major milestone for my truck. After much anticipation and many close close calls from the wonderful Houston drivers out there (Ya'll know who you are) I finally got hit for the fourth time last night. Houston weather has not been great as of late and yesterday was no exception as it was raining most of the day however, from what I can tell the weather, as much as ignorance was not a factor in this accident.

While scouring the news archives for interesting blog material I came across an article that just irritated the hell out of me. The title of the article is "Firefighters Investigated For Frolic With Woman In Thong". The basis for this story is that a "sexy woman" in shorts posed on a firetruck with volunteer firefighters.
Now, this really isn't even about trucks, even though this story features a fire truck, but is more about me being irritated by the simple fact that news agency considers this worthy of running as a story.
This is an editorial by Jake and if you're already offended, don't continue.–
