TV show started in 1999, which coincided with the time in my life when I got my first truck and kick-started my automotive career. Every weekend I was an avid viewer of the show, learning as much as I could to help me build up my own truck and teach others what I had learned through my websites, print magazines, and now, my own show, Truckblog.TV. The reason why Stacey David is so appealing to so many people is because he is the "real deal". He talks like an enthusiast while still being super entertaining, he's got a crazy imagination for building vehicles, and he does all of his own work on the show. During his career hosting "Trucks!" the show had the highest ratings of any how-to automotive show and was also Spike TV's highest rated show on their weekend line-up. I was fortunate to have met Stacey three years ago at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Nissan To Jump Into Commercial Truck Segment In 2010 More in: Nissan | Comments | Permalink | 793 Views Nissan have decided to start producing medium duty and light duty commercial trucks in 2010, a segment of the market that is primarily owened by Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Nissan's Vice President of Product Planning, Larry Dominique, stated in an interview "a handful of new products will be needed to satisfy the new commercial truck dealers". Official commercial truck plans will be revealed at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show next January but may include dump trucks, tow trucks, big rigs, school buses, flat beds, and more. Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck To Get Hybrid Engine More in: Engine, Fuel, Hybrid, Toyota | Comments | Permalink | 683 Views In an article by The Wallstreet Journal, Toyota Motor Company announced they will make their hybrid engine system available in every model by the year 2020, including the popular Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Questions were raised when the announcement was made, inquiring about previous statements that most automakers stated they lose money on hybrids. The statements were clarified by Toyota's North American Head of Sales, Bob Carter, stating "his company makes a profit on its Prius hybrids, which recently exeeded sales of 1 million units globally". Ford and Phoenix-based Pro Formance Group have teamed up to pilot an eco-driving program for fleet customers. The plant will begin converting its body shop in November when the tooling and equipment specific to the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator will be disassembled and transferred to Kentucky Truck Plant, which begins producing the large SUVs in the second quarter of 2009. The Fast And The Furious 4 Trailer Hits The Intarweb More in: Polls, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Off-Road, SUV, Website | Comments | Permalink | 3,068 Views Starring the originals Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, "The Fast and the Furious 4" certainly looks to be as action packed as the original but this time including more trucks into the scene. In the trailer, you'll see two old Chevrolet 2500 Crew Cab flat bed trucks that have been heavily modified and feature NOS tanks, an indestructible black Hummer H2, Cadillac Escalades, a Chevrolet pre-runner desert truck flying through the air, and more. Jeep Is Back In Business, For Now More in: Dodge, Jeep, SUV | Comments | Permalink | 3,091 Views Jeep have begun production again at their Toledo, Ohio plant after being shut down for two months from a mandatory downtime set earlier this year. The plant will be expected to take another four weeks off by the end of the year as mandatory shut downs beginning the week of September 22, October 27, and two weeks in November. The reasoning for all of this madness? Slow sport utility vehicle sales. The Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro have been hit the hardest with a status quo shift to more fuel efficient vehicles, but the Jeep Wrangler four door is still selling strong and continues to be the brands "bread-and-butter" model. The Real Harley Davidson Super Duty Photo More in: Diesel, Ford | Comments | Permalink | 2,976 Views A spyshot photo of a possible 2009 Ford Harley Davidson Super Duty was posted at Pickuptrucks.com, but anyone who actually knows the Super Duty platform and Harley Davidson editions (like myself), would be able to confirm that the vehicle featured in the photo is not of the Harley Davidson Super Duty, but of a F-250 Extended Cab XL mule truck as hinted by the non painted grille, lack of billet grille specific to the Harley Davidson models, obvious Extended cab configuration which is not offered on the Harley Davidson models, non-enclosed head light assembly with reflectors, non painted front bumper, lack of reflectors on the side mirrors, clear non factory smoked rear windows, stock F-250 fender vents, and absence of distinguishable blue flames down the sides of the truck. Tuesday, August 26  Hummer Dominates At Desert Racing More in: Hummer, Off-Road, Racing, SUV | Comments | Permalink | 4,975 Views Rod Hall Racing’s Team Hummer demonstrated its stock class desert racing dominance as the team swept the production classes at Friday’s 2008 Best in the Desert “TSCO Vegas to Reno.” Despite the grueling conditions of the 457-mile race, Team Hummer owner Rod Hall and sons Josh Hall and Chad Hall finished the race with three class victories from their production class H3, H2 SUT and H3 Alpha. Indian Truck Maker Mahindra Delays Launch In United States More in: Diesel, Engine, Fuel | Comments | Permalink | 4,141 Views It should not come as a surprise that Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd of Mumbai, India have delayed the launch of their pickup truck in the United States until the fourth quarter of 2009. The light duty diesel pickup truck will spend the extra time on United States roads for testing and evaluating, intending to travel 3.2 million miles across 25 trucks before the pickups go on sale.
