Toyota Financial Services (TFS), in partnership with Toyota Motor Sales, announced qualified College Graduates can receive a $1,000 rebate toward the purchase or lease of select new Toyota vehicles, including the Corolla, Matrix, RAV4, Camry (excludes Camry hybrid), Tacoma and Yaris and any new Scion model. “Toyota and Scion vehicles are some of the most popular vehicles among young adults, but more than that, they serve as a dependable way for new graduates to get to new jobs and start their careers,” said Mike Groff, TFS Group Vice President of Sales, Product and Marketing. “We recognize it’s a tough time to be entering this economy, so we hope this $1,000 rebate, which can be coupled with other incentives, saves these new grads some money and gets them going on the right path.”

Codemasters Dirt Sets World Record At 5,560 Square Miles In Game

Gaming development company, Codemasters who originally brought the hit title DIRT to gaming consoles are now releasing a new title called FUEL. The company made a Guinness World Record for the most virtual terrain in any video game with over 5,560 square miles of track layed out in the game and every single mile is drivable. 2010 Ford SVT Raptor Stars In New Documentary Film

Ford's all-new 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor will be making its Hollywood debut on June 23 when a new feature film about the ultimate production off-road performance truck hits the silver screen. "Raptor – Born in Baja" – produced by Brentwood Communications (BCII) in conjunction with Ford Motor Company – will premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, Calif., before an audience of more than 500 automotive and off-road motorsports executives, entertainment industry heavyweights, celebrity guests and members of the press.

ROUSH Propane-Powered F-250 Makes Canadian Debut

ROUSH Performance has announced a line of ROUSH propane-powered pickups and vans will soon be available for Canadian fleet customers. The announcement was made in conjunction with the 42nd Annual Conference of the Propane Gas Association of Canada (PGAC) being held at the Westin Ottawa Hotel June 4 and 5. The first ROUSH propane-powered vehicles that will be available in Canada are based on the Ford F-250 and F-350 pickups, with both offering reduced operating costs and lower greenhouse emissions than their gasoline-powered counterparts. ROUSH also announced that they would be converting E-Series vans to run on liquid propane and these would also be available for Canadian customers later this year. It is anticipated that each model will have the necessary Transport Canada and other required certifications.

Tengzhong In Advanced Talks To Purchase HUMMER From GM In Strategic Acquisition

Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co., Ltd (Tengzhong) and General Motors Corp. today confirmed details of their proposed transaction, pursuant to which, Tengzhong, a major industrial machinery group, will acquire the rights to the premium off-road HUMMER brand, along with a senior management and operational team. It will also assume existing dealer agreements relating to HUMMER's dealership network. It is contemplated that Tengzhong will, as part of the transaction, enter into a long-term contract assembly and key component and material supply agreement with GM. In an earlier statement, GM said it expects the deal if successful to secure more than 3,000 US jobs. The final terms of the deal are subject to final negotiations.

Trucks Top Sales For May, Surprising

Cars.com posted a list of the top selling cars for the month of May and surprisingly enough, the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado came out on top with 33,381 and 31,463 units sold. The two trucks beat the Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, and more. The Ford Escape SUV also made the 10th spot on the list, with 16,391 units sold. Impressive! Dodge however did not make the list with their new Ram.

General Motors Announces Preliminary Agreement To Sell HUMMER

General Motors Corp. announced it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a buyer for HUMMER, its premium off-road brand. This transaction is the result of GM's strategic review of the HUMMER brand and the company’s ongoing restructuring efforts. The sale is expected to close by the end of third quarter of this year and is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of applicable regulatory approvals.

State of CA Looking For Higher CARB Standards Beyond 2016 Goals

In a report by Reuters, California's representatives are already looking for higher CARB standards, beyond those passed last week by 2016 and approved by President Obama. The new standards create a new requirement average of 35.5 miles per gallon for automakers and now California is looking to raise that standard again, striving for "a much more stringent standard", said Mary Nichols of the California Air Resources Board. Nichols continued with (the rules) "doesn't signal any kind of flagging interest on the part of California in being part of a transformation of the auto fleet to something much more efficient than what it is today". A new EPA waiver request is being created and applied for and is expected to appear sometime next year.
