| Next Generation General Motors SUVs To Remain Body On Frame Construction
General Motors has made an announcement that the company will continue "body on frame" production for future generation trucks and SUVs. Currently the GMT900 frame is used by GM for the Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Avalanche, Suburban, Cadillac Escalade models, and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL. Produced by Magna International Cosma, Magna spokesperson Scott Worden confirmed "the next generation of GM's large SUVs will come with the body-on-frame architecture. This sort of chassis tends to add weight versus a unibody platform, but it also adds capability for towing and payload at lower cost".
