Ram Truck Brand Renews Monster Truck Racing Partnership With Hall Brothers Racing

The Ram Truck Brand today announced that it would renew its monster truck racing partnership with Hall Brothers Racing. Today's news brings back a partnership that began in 2002 with the debut of the Ram-based "Raminator" monster truck.

"More than a million people attend monster truck events each year, and audience demographics match the consumers who buy pickup trucks," said Fred Diaz, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ram Truck Brand. "We're launching a brand new Ram Heavy Duty truck and having a monster truck modeled after the 2011 Ram Heavy Duty gets our dealers and customers very excited."

Ford F-150 To Get Ecoboost V6 Sometime This Year

A tipster over at PUT has reported that the F-150 will get Ford's V6 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6 in the near future. The twin turbo gasoline direct injection engine delivers "the performance of a V8 with the fuel efficiency of a V6" and is said to be the same engine found in the Mustang, which achieves a 30 mile per gallon fuel efficiency rating. We'll see what Ford does as the F-150 is their bread and butter vehicle.

Friday Beerblog: Chrysler Goes Full Retard With Ram Display

Last month at the North American International Auto Show, Chrysler tried gaining attention in a different way by hanging a Dodge Ram 2500 HD truck upside down on the ceiling of their display. Something tells me if Chrysler spent more time actually building quality vehicles and less time coming up with creative crap at NAIAS, the company would actually increase sales and not have to file for bankruptcy... just a thought.

Honda Recalls Ridgeline For Connector Issue

Toyota is not the only manufacturer with recalls going on, this time Honda has issued a recall for the 2006 to 2007 Ridgeline pickup truck. The problem affects 76,000 vehicles and is in regard to a wire harness connector issue where the air conditioning unit can overheat and increase the risk of fire. Owners are urged to contact Honda asap at 1-800-999-1009.

Toyota Temporarily Suspends Production of Tundra and Sequoia

Toyota Motor Sales today announced that it is instructing Toyota dealers to temporarily suspend sales of eight models involved in the recall for sticking accelerator pedal, announced on January 21, 2010.

“Helping ensure the safety of our customers and restoring confidence in Toyota are very important to our company,” said Group Vice President and Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter. “This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized. We’re making every effort to address this situation for our customers as quickly as possible.”

Ford To Produce 2011 Explorer In Chicago, Lands 1,200 Jobs

Ford Motor Company today announced it will produce the next-generation Ford Explorer SUV at the company’s Chicago Assembly Plant beginning in the fourth quarter of this year.

Ford is investing nearly $400 million in its Chicago manufacturing facilities to launch production of the new, fuel-efficient Ford Explorer. The company also will add 1,200 new jobs to staff a second production shift at Chicago Assembly Plant and increase production at the nearby Chicago Stamping Plant.

Ford Engineers Using Virtual Reality To Build Next Pickups

Engineers at United Space Alliance (USA) and Ford Motor Company are sharing their animation software experiences to create virtual reality simulations that benefit both astronauts and drivers. Ford is applying virtual reality animation software that is used by movie animators and video game creators to improve real-life driving situations before the first prototype is even built. In an immersive Virtual Evaluation lab (iVE), Ford engineers create virtual vehicles complete with exterior views.

Joe Bacal Survives First-Corner Hit to Win Laughlin Desert Challenge

In a heart-stopping beginning to his second year in off-road racing, Joe Bacal put his Lexus LX 570 ahead of his closest class rival as they raced flat out to the first corner at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge 2010 season opener on Saturday, only to feel the full force of competition slam into him as he headed for the apex. Rival competitor Justin Matney left a major wound in Bacal’s Lexus as he pushed his way through, but the adrenaline-fired Bacal re-passed Matney shortly after and was never headed again en route to another Stock Full-class victory this past weekend.

Chrysler Brake Booster Recall For Dodge Ram, Jeep Brand and Others

The NHTSA has issued a recall for nearly 25,000 Chrysler vehicles including the 2010 Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Nitro, Dodge Ram (light and heavy duty), Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Liberty. Apparently there is a problem with the vehicle brake booster input rod where it could fail without warning, resulting in a crash. Owners are urged to contact Chrysler directly at 800-853-1403.

Toyota Files Voluntary Safety Recall For Sticking Accelerator Pedal

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc, today announced it would recall approximately 2.3 million vehicles to correct sticking accelerator pedals on specific Toyota Division models. This action is separate from the on-going recall of approximately 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles to reduce the risk of pedal entrapment by incorrect or out of place accessory floor mats. Approximately 1.7 million Toyota Division vehicles are subject to both separate recall actions.
