| Next Generation Lincoln Mark LT Pickup Truck Spotted
Although Lincoln have discontinued the Mark LT pickup truck for 2009, the company is still developing the next generation version based off of the 2009 Ford F-150. In the spyshot seen here, the new Mark LT is built off of the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum edition and doesn't feature anything unique other than a large (and quite ugly) grille spliced between the F-150's new head lights and some different badges. Anyone interested in the next generation Lincoln Mark LT can pick one up outside the states in Mexico, where demand is quite high for the luxury pickup truck.

A group of undergraduate students from MIT have produced a prototype shock absorber that has the ability to generate electricity back into a vehicle. The team claims the shock "increases a vehicle's fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent using a hydraulic system that forces fluid through a turbine attached to a generator". The students are trying to commercialize their product and have found interest from the United States' military and several manufacturers of commercial truck lines. Good luck guys!

| Toyota Planning Next Generation 4Runner
Toyota cut the 4Runner from production nearly seven years ago but the old SUV "still has life left in it", according to a Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc executive. Bob Carter, Toyota's Divisional Group Vice President and General Manager (that's a hell of a title), says "there are plans (for a new 4Runner)" but declined on details of when a new one will be announced. WardsAuto believes the 4Runner will debut in the 2010 year, but no details have been announced from Toyota at this time. “(The 4Runner) is an important nameplate that’s been with us since ‘84" and “We’re fortunate that just like Prius, it carries a lot of brand equity. (The) 4Runner is right there with it; it’s an important part of the franchise".

| Ford On Edge For Paying Off Debt, May Reach Target
Ford Motor Company are on the edge when it comes to paying off their debts. The company is looking at paying off their long term $10.4 billion debt by paying an $80 dollar premium per $1,000 of debt to holders who are willing to invest in common stock from senior convertible notes. If the company is able to achieve this target, they will reduce their total debt from $25.8 billion to $15.4 billion and pay less interest in the process. Earlier this week Ford was able to reach an agreement with the United Auto Workers to cover half of $13 billion in health insurance.

Consumer Reports have selected the Chevrolet Avalanche as their top full size sport utility truck for 2009. According to Consumer Reports, "The Chevrolet Avalanche full-sized crew cab ($36,000 to $47,000) is one of the most versatile and comfortable pickups that Consumer Reports has tested" and "Its unified bed and cab helps give it a solid feel and a comfortable, quiet ride. Its innovative partition, between the cab and the bed, can be folded to allow longer cargo to extend into the back of the cab". The Chevrolet Avalanche stole the top truck title from last year's winner, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab.
