Small SUV's Earn Top Ranks In IIHS Roof Strength Tests
More in: Safety, SUV | Comments | Permalink | 16,685 Views

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is launching a new roof strength rating system to help consumers pick vehicles that will help protect them in rollover crashes. Twelve small SUVs are the first to be put to the test. Only 4 earn the top rating of good. The Volkswagen Tiguan has the strongest rated roof and the Kia Sportage has the weakest among the 2008-09 models evaluated. This new rating system is based on Institute research showing that occupants in rollover crashes benefit from stronger roofs. Friday Beerblog: Traxxas VXL RC Car Hero Cam Back Flip
More in: Beerblog, Racing | Comments | Permalink | 24,153 Views

The team here at Truckblog are huge fans of the GoPro Camera. We've used them for our CORR Coverage and Truckjam videos, and even during tractor pull's mounted on Project Rockstar. These little camera's are truly amazing.

Due to their portability, the camera can be placed anywhere. An enthusiast on YouTube mounted one on his Traxxas VXL Slash radio controlled car and jumped it off a ramp in the middle of his street, pulling a back flip in the process. The first time I saw this video I thought of Rhys Millen's multiple failed attempts of performing a back flip.

2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty: More Truck, More Tonka
More in: Spy Photos, Concepts, Ford | Comments | Permalink | 31,127 Views

Automotive rendering specialist, Mark Stehrenberger, posted his version of the next generation 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty on Pickuptrucks.com. The 2011 platform is expecting a complete refresh from it's current 10 year old body styling, adding more truck and more "tonka" like features grabbed from Ford's F-350 Tonka concept back in 2002.

If the speculation behind this rendering is true, we can expect Super Duty owners to be slightly disappointed due to the consistent styling from the F-150 and the lack of a "Super" heavier duty truck. Exterior styling aside, the re-designed truck is expected to receive Ford's now 6.7 liter "Scorpion" V8 diesel motor which will replace the current 6.2 liter.

Ford Motor Company is taking full advantage of the fuel economy, performance and reliability benefits associated with Electric Power Steering (EPS) on a variety of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products, but the company isn’t stopping there. Customers already behind the wheel of the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner, one of Ford’s first products to sport EPS, also are enjoying other clever – yet subtle – steering characteristics that enhance drive quality.
