GM prepares to temporarily shut down full size truck plants as refresh for the Silverado and Sierra begin
Several months ago it was reported that GM would be shutting down many of their full size truck plants for 20+ weeks while they refit them and began plans to refresh the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra model line. GM’s full size truck line has not seen a refresh or major update since 2007.
The affected production plants are scheduled to be close anywhere from 20 to 22 weeks. GM plans to begin the updating of their full size SUV line after the full size truck line has been updated and production set and underway. Dealerships have been increasing their inventory before the lull in hopes that demand and special incentive programs will increase sales. So if you have your heart set on the current model of Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra now might be a good time to get a sweet deal.
