When Just-in-Time is too late

[ 0 ] April 21, 2010 |

Yesterday it was BMW talking about shutting down operations in one of their US plants that gets parts and materials from Germany. Today Nissan is singing the same tune for two of its Japanese plants. Apparently these plants use pneumatic sensors that are manufactured in Iceland and flown to Japan.

This potential delay affects the Nissan Cube, Murano, and Rogue and Nissan does not know when production will be able to restart. Guess it’s time to put a backup plan in place!
