How to install N-Fab Nerf Steps
Written by: Brian Olhausen
9/16 Gear Wrench
Wrench, or socket and ratchet
(12) 3/8 x 1 ˝” carriage bolts
(12) Factory running board hardware
*If vehicle is equipped with factory running boards, remove boards and factory fasteners.
N-Fab Nerf steps are manufactured specifically for driver and passenger sides. The short 45* bend at the end of each step goes to the front of the vehicle.
Starting at the driver side, open both doors (if so equipped) and hold the nerf step to the underside of the vehicle. The oval holes in the nerf step bracket will align with the factory holes on the bottom hole on the pinch roll of the truck.
Using the 3/8″ x 1 ˝” hardware provided… insert the carriage bolt from the outside and attach the flat washer and nut.
Once all six bolts have been installed, hold the front of the nerf step firmly against the body and tighten the front bolt. Now move to the rear of the step and hold it so the gap is even along the entire nerf step. Next tighten the rear bolt. You may then tighten the remaining 4 bolts.
There are upper mounting holes on the Super duty nerf step brackets that can be used, but are not necessary. If used, the upper mounting holes require the factory step mounting hardware.
And you’re finished!
