I was on my way home from Las Vegas a couple weekends ago when I came across this splendor of a safety hazard. You know you need to buy a pickup truck when you own as many bikes as this guy in the photo. In fact, you could get lucky and buy a new Chevrolet Silverado with GM's new 72 hour sale offering 0 percent financing for 72 months. If that doesn't suit your fancy, well continue looking like a douche bag and creating a hazard for everyone else on the road. Full size image inside.
Chrysler LLC has temporarily canceled plans for a diesel engine for the Dodge Ram 1500 model pickup truck. Mark Land of Cummins commented on the reports, "We've been trying to rework development of the [light-duty diesel] engine over the last several months, given the current economic climate" and "this is not a surprise". Chrysler on the other hand have neglected to comment on the news. The reason for cancellation is being blamed on the terms with the new government owned Chrysler and their declaration of bankruptcy. All future plans have been put on hold.
General Motors are having a 72 hour sale which began July 1st and runs through July 6th. You can take advantage of 0 percent financing for 72 months on select miles which include the 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2009 Hummer H3T and Cadillac Escalade EXT.

"The Onion" has created a spoof of a new "break out" reality show called "Auto Warriors" where two Ford manufacturing plants go against each other to see which one can build the 1,000 Ford Focus vehicles in 24 hours--without electricity. The losing plant gets shut down in "high stakes fun".
The California Energy Commission have created a Fuel Efficient Tire program aimed at creating a independent rating system for the rolling resistance of passenger and light weight truck tires sold or are available in California. Aimed at pressuring tire manufacturer representatives and tire industry association personnel into developing lighter less resistant tires, the proposed rating system would rank tires from lowest to highest regarding their "Rolling Resistance Force". The California Energy Commission said "All tires with an RRF within 15% of the lowest RRF reported tire for that combined tire size designation and load rating will be rated 'fuel efficient tire" and "The foundation of a government administered product rating system is a comprehensive database providing reliable test results and objective information accessible to everyone. A solid analytical basis combined with full disclosure and transparency inspires the confidence required for a rating system to be successful". That's all groovy as long as the commission or tire manufacturers don't press an additional tax per tire for the rating system but that already is pretty evident.
